Application: Erosion Control Location: Keelung, Taiwan Solution： Problem： Slope Surface Protection with ACECell® Keelung is a densely populated city and surrounded by the mountains, therefore a majority of the residential districts were built on the slope. Daching community with the population of 7,000 people was only accessed to external by an 8-meters-width road, the residences worried that it could inconvenience and perilous if the disaster occurrences. Wherefore, Keelung government was proposed to construct another road pass through a hill for convenient transportation. Consider to the budget issue and the good geological condition, the contractor used benching open-cut for the road section across the hill. The gradient of excavated slope is 20 to 40 degrees with 40 meters high. The slope surface was placed a layer of ACECell ® HDPE geocell and filled up the soil mixed with plan growing medium for vegetation. The soil nails were installed next subsequent of the placement of ACECell ® to improve the stabilization the slope. A serious of ditch installed for surface water drainage as well. Nowadays, the plants grow well to make the slope look alike a natural hill.
