If you own a local business, you’ll need people to be able to easily find you when searching online.

As you know by now, the yellow pages is a thing of the past. Online directories now rule the internet.

In addition to the online local directories, Google is still the main directory people will use to find you.

Luckily for you, Google has probably already listed your business automatically. Unfortunately, the listing may be completely wrong. Your phone number may be incorrect, the location may be wrong, or your web site may be unlisted.

In order to correct this, you should search for your business on Google according to your location.

For example, if you have a jewelry shop in Monroe NY, you may want to search “jewelry shop in Monroe ny” and see the results.

If your information does not appear correctly on the map section and local listing of the first page of google search results, then you need to take action.

Here’s what you have to do:

1) Go to www.google.com/business

to access Google’s business center

log-in page.

2) Log into your business’s Google

account, or create a new Google

business account if you don’t

already have one.

3) If you already have an

account, you’ll be able to

edit your business’

information. If you don’t

have an account, you will

be prompted to add the

information.

4) Enter your company’s

name, its physical address

including city, state and

zip code, the phone

number, your website

address, and a description

of your services.

5) Add additional information,

including all photos, videos and

additional details.

6) Google will require that you verify

your business listing in order to be

sure that your business is real and

currently operational.

7) There are two ways that Google

will ask you to verify your

business. The website will provide

you with a PIN number.

If you choose to have Google call

you to verify your listing, they will

call your designated business

phone number and ask for the Pin

number on the screen. This is the

fastest way to verify your Google+

Local listing.

You can also choose to have a

postcard sent to your business’

location containing a personal Pin

number and activation

instructions. This postcard will

arrive within 2 weeks.

8) Once this process is complete you

have successfully verified your

Google+ Local listing.

9) Update your listing periodically to

ensure accuracy

10) Add special offers, coupons and

deals frequently.

Once you’ve updated your listing,

ensure to create a Google+ page for

your business.

Your Google+ page should be kept up

to date with frequent postings in order

to get the most out of your Google+

account.

In addition to Google, there are over

50 local directories that your business

needs to be listed.

There is a free tool that will show you

how your business is displayed within

all of these directories to ensure that

your information is correct.

The free tool can be found at

www.FreeListReport.com.

Enter your information and see how

your business is listed on all the

directories that matter.

The free report will also give you a

listing of all the directories you should

be listed, so that you can start the

process yourself, or hire someone to do

it for you. LWMM

What can you do when your business is seasonal, or cash flow slows to a crawl for months due to your business cycle?

You do what millions of smart business owners have started doing...you diversify by starting an online supplemental business.

Diversifying your revenue with an online business is one of the smartest strategies you can implement for the following reasons:

1) New income stream - Income from your new business will supplement your current income and will help grow your business.

2) Cash flow insurance - When your business cycle is heading downward, your online business will ensure that your cash flow stays steady. This helps with payroll, inventory, and all other expenses when necessary.

3) Easy to set up - An online business is extremely easy to set up. You can choose to offer your own products, or better yet, offer someone else’s product. This way, you only focus on promoting it, and not working it.

4) Low cost compared to brick and mortar or franchise - You can start an online business for 5 figures, instead of 6 or 7 figures for a brick and mortar or franchise. You can take a fraction of the savings and

invest it in marketing your online business.

5) More business deductions - Consult your accountant, but if you need a year-end business deduction, this is a great way to reduce your tax liability, and start a new venture.

6) Better profit margins - Online businesses typically have a much larger profit margin than off-line businesses. This is specially true if you enter the information and education business industry. The profit margins on info products rival those of just about any industry in the world.

7) Less time consumption - When you represent a company’s product or service, all you do is drive traffic to a web site. The company will create the web site for you, create sales material, train you on how to sell their product, deliver the product or service, handle customer support, handle refunds, fulfill orders, collect payments, deal will international orders, and much more.

8) Everything is done for you - When choosing the right online business, you can choose to have it all done for you. Your expense will be paying for traffic and creating a system that works for you.

9) Use proven systems - When you choose the right online business,

you’ll have access to proven systems that makes it easy for you to profit. The system is constantly tested and revised at no cost to you.

10) Done for you marketing plan - When you start the right business, the company will already have a marketing plan that you can follow. All you do is follow their proven system, and get paid upon properly implementing their plan.

11) You’re in control - You can choose to start any type of business online. Offering several affiliate products will ensure multiple streams of income from one company or many. You choose which company to represent. You choose which product to represent.

12) Digital or physical - You can choose to sell physical products on your own or represent companies like Amazon.com. You can also choose hundreds of other companies’ physical products by becoming a publisher at cj.com. For digital products, you can choose clickbank.com and jvzoo.com.

13) Highest profit potential - Start with a high profit/big ticket item. GoNowTo.com/21steps offers one of the highest ticket items, with a very easy sales process that will supplement your revenue all year

The Truth About Social Media for Business Social media marketing strategies have quickly become the go-to strategy for businesses that are looking to generate leads and sales.

Here are a few ways your small business will benefit from marketing through social media:

1) Social media marketing can help potential customers ‘discover’ your business.

While most of your marketing strategies will be based on the concept of directly communicating with your customers, social media marketing makes it easy for the customer to discover your company on their own.

Due to social media sites promoting communication and sharing between its users, it allows them to share information about a product or service they like with their friends and family.

It also allows a single user to discover new things on their own, based on how they navigate the various social media sites.

This means that a regular social media website user could accidentally find your business while performing their everyday online tasks.

2. Wildly popular with online users.

One purpose of any business marketing campaign is to reach as many potential customers as possible. Social media websites will give you access to a very large number of targeted people to advertise to.

Recent studies show that Facebook has more than 1.36 billion users and that more than 3 million websites have directly integrated themselves with it. YouTube sees more than 1 billion unique users each and every month, and Twitter has more than multi millions of users as well! More than 525 million people are currently using Google+ and that number grows everyday as well.

This means that social media marketing offers your business the chance to reach out

to an awesome amount of people each and every day!

3. Raise your brand awareness.

Social media platforms allow a company to spread its brand’s information all over the web. Potential viewers can see your brand in image form, in online videos, in discussions between users and via your company’s website.

They will also be able to hear about your brand when they perform an online search. The more that people hear, read or see your brand, the better the chance that it will stick in their minds.

This is how you can vastly increase your brand’s recognition factor. Social media also allows your business to directly control its brand’s reputation and repair any damage to it very quickly.

4. Increase customer trust and loyalty.

One of the best ways to increase your customer’s trust in your company is to speak to them directly, as though you were

LocalWebMarketingMagazine.com 9

a friend rather than a business. Social media allows your company to do exactly that. Direct interactions and contact with customers that are engaging, interesting and educational both help to build customer trust and create loyalty.

Make your customers feel appreciated on social media platforms they use every day, and you will see an increase in repeat customer transactions!

5. Bring attention to your products and services.

Anytime your business offers a new product or service you’ll want to bring as much attention to it as possible. Social media marketing allows your company to showcase your newest products or services all over the web. It also lets you create a vast network of interested people, through which you can create the attention.

6. Easily spy on your competition.

Anyone can research any company or business that advertises via social media. This means that you can easily find out what they’re up to. Just make sure that your products, services, deals and promotions are better than your competitors!

7. Interact with your customers.

With social media, you can do more than just showcase your latest products and services through ads. It lets you interact with them. Rather than just advertising to them, you can use social media to deliver your message in an engaging, interactive and far less intrusive manner. You can discover your customer’s opinions, ideas and desires, and then you can use the information to deliver a solution to them.

8. Perform market research.

Interactive online media platforms allow you to listen to what your customers have to say when it comes to products and services.

You will be able to hear what your customers say, read what they write and track the specific web links they click on. You can then use this information to improve your product or service. You an also use it to tell your customers all about your improvements. Few things offer your business a chance for such easy insight into your specific market.

9. Improve your customer service department.

You already know how important quality customer service is to retaining customer loyalty, so this is a great way to improve

upon it. The direct customer interactions are a great way to track and improve your customer service.

You can directly ask questions and receive answers with comments from your customers. You can then directly respond to them if necessary. This kind of social media customer service is less expensive than over-the-phone service, and customers will appreciate the ability to connect with you via their favorite social media platform.

You can also respond to customer problems in real time, offering answers and corrections almost immediately.

This means that you could turn a disgruntled customer back into a loyal customer in a matter of seconds.

10. Establish yourself as an authority in any niche.

It is very possible to establish your company as an expert in your specific niche using the various tools created by social media websites. All you have to do is contribute to some blogs, social media posts or online videos and provide the viewer with helpful information.

Not only will you educate people in your niche, but they will also be associate your company and your brand as a useful resource. People feel better patronizing businesses that they know, like and trust.

11. Build a network of loyal followers.

Through the process of networking, you can develop a large following of loyal customers. These loyal customers can then use the very same social media processes to share their affection and loyalty for your company, adding to your network. This means that your company could be networking to thousands of people every minute of the day.

12. Very inexpensive form of business marketing.

Unlike other forms of traditional advertising, ad costs on social media platforms is inexpensive. You don’t have to cover the costs associated with creating and distributing promotional advertisements, nor do you have to pay for paper, ink and shipping costs.

Almost all of the social media sites are free to join. You will only have to spend time and effort on your social media campaigns. This form of online marketing is also very eco-friendly, because it does not use paper advertisements.

13. Can help with your SEO campaigns.

Your business should have a search engine optimization (SEO) campaign in effect, to make sure that your company’s website shows on the first page results of major search engines like Google and Bing.

Marketing through social media sites can increase your company’s web visibility in the eyes of search engines, which will increase your relevancy rankings.

14. Will drive traffic to your website.

The more you are able to interact with your customers via social media sites, the more likely it is they will visit your company’s website. In-bound links and suggestions are great ways to help online viewers locate your site.

15. Great for niche marketing.

If your company’s products and services are very niche specific, social media marketing will allow you to market directly within your niche. This can help you target that very specific field of customers who will appreciate your products and services.

You can also help generate interest for your specific niche, which can help you gain new customers and new followers. Social media marketing can be both broad-based and specific niche-based at the same time, which gives your business the best possible chance at reaching the best types of customers.

16. Social marketing is already popular.

You won’t have to wait to begin drumming up interest in your social media marketing campaign because it is already outrageously popular. Online viewers already know how to use these social sites and already expect to interact with businesses. This means that your newly implemented social media marketing campaign could begin producing results right from the start!

As you can see, there are many benefits associated with social media marketing.

These tactics already use a popular customer medium, and they increase your business’s visibility, its reputation, its search engine ranking relevancy and its ability to reach a large yet targeted audience.

It is also a very inexpensive marketing strategy, yet extremely effective.

There’s no better time to start a social media marketing strategy for your business.

Start today. LWMM

It’s tempting to send offer after offer to

your email list in the hopes of making

the most money. Yet this is also a

perfect way to alienate your readers and

send them packing.

If all you ever do is try to sell them

something in every email, they’re either

going to stop opening your emails, or

simply unsubscribe. In either case, you

are no longer relevant to your list. So

when it comes time to promote your

products or services, no one will listen.

There is a better way, and it’s to

provide content along with the

promotions. The problem is in knowing

what kind of content to give them.

What do they want to know? How long

is it going to take you to research it

and write it? And will it even be read?

The key is to think ‘engagement’ over

selling. If you can continually engage

your audience, then you can continually

sell to them as well, at a reasonable

pace.

Think of it this way: Every engagement

email is like building your KLT

(Know, Like and Trust) factor and

every promotional email is like

decreasing your KLT.

Here are 4 reasons to send

engagement type emails:

1) They take the pressure off of you

and let you have fun with your list.

Let’s face it – if every email you

send is trying to convince people to

buy yet another product, you’re

putting a lot of pressure on yourself

to continually SELL SELL SELL.

And you know in your heart of

hearts that your list does NOT want

another email telling them to BUY

BUY BUY. Which means you are

having NO FUN writing nothing

but promotional emails. Who can

blame you?

Even a born sales person likes to

take some time off and just shoot

the breeze, talk about sports, do

some gardening, whatever. Well,

you and your list need time off as

well. And we don’t mean time

when they don’t hear from you, but

instead time when you have

something to say that doesn’t

involve them reaching for their

wallets yet again.

2) You can be their go-to person in

your niche. If all you do is sell,

then they always have their guard

up when they open your emails –

and with good reason. But if you

can show them how to do things

without buying, and even how to

buy better, you can become the

authority they like and trust.

3) You can email more often. If you

only send promotional emails, you

better either keep the frequency

down or expect to burn your list.

But if you’re sending engagement

type emails, you don’t have to

worry about how often you email

(within reason.) Who doesn’t want

to hear the latest news or tips or

tricks in their favorite niche? Send

it out, they WANT to read this

stuff.

A funny thing happens when you

send out engagement type emails

and then you take a few days off –

your list will write to you asking

where you are and if you’re okay.

When this happens, you know

you’ve created magic.

4) You can reuse material you’ve

already written. Did you write a

dynamite blog post earlier this year

that got rave reviews? Break it up

into several emails and send it out.

Do you have a report on how to do

something that is full of great tips?

Break it up into several emails and

send it out.

You don’t always have to come up with

new material for engagement emails –

you can reuse stuff from your articles

and posts. Nice!

Here are 10 topics you can write about

besides the usual ‘buy this’ stuff:

1) The latest news in your niche AND

how it might affect your readers.

Don’t just give the news –

personalize it with your own take

and your thoughts on how it might

impact your list.

2) Tips, tricks and great ideas on how

to do things in your niche.

Everyone wants the latest hack on

how to do something easier/faster/

cheaper/better. So let them in on

the secrets.

3) Teach your list how to be a savvy

shopper in your niche. What should

they look out for? What features

are must-have, and what should

they avoid? This is a great way to

make yourself into the authority.

4) 3 minute interviews. Send email

interviews to authorities in your

niche and create emails from those

How to Make MORE Sales With Your Email List

LocalWebMarketingMagazine.com 11

interviews. These don’t

need to be long – 1 to 5

questions is all you

need.

5) Spotlight your

customers. Show how

Bill bought your product

and used it with good

results. Talk about the

obstacles he had to

overcome, the problems

he solved, and anything

else that might interest

your readers.

6) Show your list how to

USE your product. If

they’ve purchased, this

is helpful. If they

haven’t, they get to feel

what it would be like if

they did purchase. Either

way, it’s a win-win.

7) Stuff for your list only.

Give your list benefits that people

can get nowhere else. This might

be free products, insider

information or special discounts.

Make these special benefits expire

to train your list to open your

emails as soon as they receive

them.

8) Stories. People LOVE stories.

Don’t get wordy, do start in the

middle of the story where the

action is, and always make it

entertaining as well as relevant to

your niche.

9) Seasonal tips. If you’re in a niche

that changes with the seasons, this

is perfect. For example, if your

niche is sports than fall is the time

to talk about the upcoming ski

season, while spring is when you

can talk about baseball, soccer, etc.

Is your niche cooking? Talk about

seasonal foods. Even if your niche

isn’t seasonal, with a little

creativity you can still use this

angle.

10) Personality and humor. You don’t

want to ramble on about yourself or

your business, but injecting your

own personality is terrific and

highly recommended. And anytime

you can make your readers smile or

even laugh, you’re sure to get them

to open your next email.

What not to talk about in your

emails:

1) Too much personal info. A line or

two about yourself is fine, but

unless you’re telling a story that is

of particular interest to your

readers, don’t overdo it. No one

wants to know your life history, at

least not in a broadcast email.

2) How terrible your competition is.

There is an exception to this rule: If

one of your customers has a

personal story of their experience

with your competition, you can use

it. But YOU cannot trash your

competition. Even if every word

you say is true, it still makes you

look unprofessional.

By sending out engagement emails,

you won’t abuse your list, you will

build rapport with your list, and in the

end you wind up selling more than if

you simply sent promotional emails.

Plus your list will actually LIKE you

and say nice things about you in social

media, which is always a plus.

This is the ultimate KLT formula for

interacting with your email list.

Did you know that your company’s web site may never reach the first page of search engine results?

Most business owners love the look, feel and navigation of their web site, but search engines may be penalizing you because of its design.

So why design a web site that looks great, but may not rank well? Simply because many business owners want a site that reflects their creative ideas and want to pass it on to their prospective customers.

So, if it’s difficult (not impossible) to naturally rank a professional looking and tastefully designed web site, what can you do to get leads and sales?

The easiest option is to update your web site so that it naturally ranks higher, generates leads and increases sales.

Now, I know what you’re thinking; “I don’t want to spend thousands of dollars on a new web site, just to make it rank higher.” Although this way of thinking is foolish from a marketing perspective, there is good news.

The good news is that you have two options:

1) You can create a web site yourself and perhaps save a few thousand dollars.

2) You can hire a firm that knows what they’re doing.

If you create it yourself, here are a few pointers:

1) Make sure your phone number is listed prominently on all pages

2) Ensure to have a contact form your visitor can view without scrolling. If more than one form is necessary, ensure to have each appropriately designed to avoid the site visitor from scrolling.

3) Have a valuable call to action. 10% discount may be the industry norm, so you’ll want to step up your game.

4) Must have an email follow up system. This should automate messages and follow up to your prospective customers, so that you don’t have to.

5) It must be responsive/mobile so that it looks great on smart phones and tablets.

6) Should have business reviews of the great service you’ve provided your customers.

7) Should have a product or service photo gallery.

8) Should list your address in text format, not in a graphic.

9) Should have a dynamic map displayed for people to find your location and easily get directions by GPS.

10) Should have proper keyword-rich navigation.

11) Should display links to social media sites.

12) Should display share buttons to social media sites.

13) Must use proper title and description tags on each page of the web site.

14) Should be easy to frequently add special offers.

15) Should be listed on as many local directories as possible.

16) Ensure to have it show up in Google Maps when searching.

If instead of creating a site yourself, you choose to hire a professional, all of this will be done for you.

This will free you up to run your business and increase sales.

Think about it for a minute… If you design the site yourself and it takes you 40 hours to do so, did you really save any money?

If your time is only worth $50/hour, then your cost is really $2,000 of your time developing the web site. However, if your time is worth $200 or more, your minimum investment

is $8,000.LWMM
