Broccoli: Broccoli will drop in market price across the board for next week, but overall will remain higher than average. Expect broccoli to remain active for the next couple of weeks.

Cabbage: Local quality and volume is great. Time to promote. Red and Jumbo local are also shipping.

Cauliflower: Cauliflower will decrease in price for next week. Mod-erate temperatures from the past few weeks has brought yields back to a normal level.

Corn: Georgia is now shipping. We are finishing with Local. Supply and quality are projected to be very good through the Fall Georgia season. Local supply is projected to finish in the next 7-10 days

Cucumbers: Mexico is shipping. Markets are declining as supply is good. Price is projected to slightly increase in the next couple weeks as the initial harvest is now complete and supply will level off. Southeast areas are offering very aggressive pricing however, rain and wind impacts from recent storms have kept us cautious and we are staying away.

Eggplant: We are loading in California with steady market prices. Mexico will begin shipping in 7-10 days. California will be ship-ping at the same time as Mexico. We will load where quality is the best.

Green Beans: Georgia is now shipping. We are finishing with Lo-cal. Why fly issues have plagued Georgia’s crop. Supply is limited with Market prices steady. Our Local season is finishing by the end of this week.

Green Bell Peppers: We are loading in California with slightly increasing market prices. Nogales will start shipping mid to late November. California volume will decline before Mexico is ready leaving a couple weeks of inconsistent supply.

Green / Red Leaf Lettuce: Both green and red leaf lettuce will increase in price for next week. Yields are lighter than previous weeks and are expected to be lighter moving forward as warm growing conditions throughout the Salinas season has pushed product forward.

Green Onions: Green onions will drop in market price for next

week. Aside from an occasional late border crossing, supply has returned to normal.

Hard Squash: Local hard squash is shipping with great quality. Market prices are expected to be stable with good availability.

Herbs: Chives, sage and lemon grass remain very tight in supply. Expect hit or miss supply on these items for the coming week.

HOT HOUSE PRODUCTS: Tomatoes on the Vine: Great quality. Production still a bit lower than normal.

Colored Peppers: Good quality and normal production.Beefsteak Tomato: Great quality and okay production.

Cucumbers: Picking fresh daily with great quality and good production.

Iceberg Lettuce: Iceberg will hold steady in market price for next week. Overall yields are down significantly due to warm grow-ing conditions throughout the Salinas season pushing product forward.

Onions: The onion market has been strong and steady over the last month. Initial reports of storage crop onion supplies are significantly less than in years past. This is especially true for storage crop onions in the Northwest. An above-average year is expected from a pricing standpoint. Consumer bags should remain promotable as this year’s crop has a smaller overall size profile. Additionally, sweet onions are expected to be promotable as well.

POTATOES: Russets: The russet potato market has seen minimal change in both pricing and demand. Supplies remain strong in all growing areas. Pricing on smaller-sized russet potatoes has remained steady, while the larger-sized russet potatoes have had a slight decline. Idaho is shipping new crop Norkotahs.

Reds: After a slow start last week, ND reds are up with good availability on A’s. Growers in Wisconsin are seeing a stronger market on a-size red potatoes as supplies are limited.

Golds: The yellow potato market has stabilized and remains

steady. Pricing appears to have reached its typical seasonal price as more growers have come online.

Romaine Lettuce: Romaine hearts will hold steady in price for next week whereas cartons will increase in price for next week. Yields are much lighter due to field quality issues and the market is expected to remain active through the end of the Salinas season.

Sugar Snap Peas: Peru is shipping good quality. Markets are slightly increasing.

Sweet Potatoes: We loaded our first new crop cured Mississippi/Louisiana sweets this week.

Zucchini and Yellow Squash: We are buying from Nogales. Market prices are currently low and projected to increase in the next 10-14 days. Supply will fluctuate through the Mexican season as usual. Quality is very nice.

VALUE ADDEDDOLE: Iceberg: Tighter supply, and quality will improve by next week.Romaine Lettuce: Tighter supply and quality is okay. Snow/Snap Peas: NO supply for another 7-10 days. Poor quality. Just for reference: It has been at least 2 years since we have seen severe conditions such as the conditions that we are experiencing right now. The first time that we experience these severe condi-tions was in May-June of 2010. Next 10-12 Days: Industry wide, we are looking at a severe shortage of snap supplies with very few boxes available for one to two more weeks. We will have a few boxes that we will try to fly from Peru on snaps; however, there will be days where there may be no snaps available during this period. We are having to grade out heavy due to fish eye on both snows and snaps. Snow peas will be light and decreasing over the next 7-14 days. For second half of October, light supplies are expected on snows and snaps. CA Production: Few snaps due to the damage from warm weather plants are just starting to flower it takes at least two weeks for the plants to start producing. CA is expecting tight supplies all month. Few snows available from CA fields.

Conventional Spinach: Good supplies and quality.Conventional Spring Mix: Good supplies and quality is okay. Insects are present.

MANNS: Brussels Sprouts: Brussels Sprouts supplies are tight again and market is slowly starting to climb due to lighter supplies. We are hoping to fill 50% of averages on the Shaved. We are temporarily discontinuing the 6/12oz Whole Sprouts until supplies get better. Our sourcing team is estimating 2-3 weeks before supplies get better. Broccoli: Raw Broccoli material supplies are expected to be better this week. We are hoping to fill all orders in full going forward, but watching to make sure that everyone is within their 6 week averages. Figure a 100% fill rate on 4/3#’s with a +$4.00 esca-lator due to the extreme market. 4/2# Broccoli Wokly will continue to be temporarily discontinued until supplies return to normal. We are expecting this situation to last another 1-2 weeks. Organic Broccoli material supplies will continue to be hit and miss this week due to quality issues from the heat.Snap Peas: Conventional Snap Peas supplies are better, orders should filled in full going forward. Organic Snap Peas will contin-ue to be hit and miss this week due to the heat damage.Snow Peas: Snow Peas will be extremely scarce for the next 1-2 weeks due to the heat. We continue to source from all areas, but finding material to pass our QA standards has been difficult.

EARTHBOUND FARM: Organic Romaine Hearts: Romaine Hearts getting tight. We are in a gap so you will be seeing pro-rates. We prorated orders at 50% this week.Spinach: We are seeing improved spinach supply.

FRUIT

russdaviswholesale.com • 800.332.7104 • crazyfreshproduce.com 3

Apples: Local apples are in full swing on all varieties.

Avocados: Avocado market is finally starting to come off, and we expect it to keep declining for the next several weeks.

Blackberries: With Mexico off to a slow start, demand is still great on domestic fruit. Quality is great and red cell is very mini-mum. Organic blackberries have very limited volume.

Blueberries: With domestic still around and coming out of CA. Quality is still Holden up and we should be winding down by the end of the month. We have imports coming in through Miami and LA. Argentina and Peru fruit is also available and will be creep-ing up until the end of December. Peak volume will be in January and will take us in Chile production.

Cantaloupe / Honeydew: With some fruit still available in Califor-nia look for a transition to Arizona product next week. Quality has been good.

Citrus: Import citrus is starting to get tight on the navel front. Plenty of clementines to promote.

Cranberries: Local cranberries are available from Twin Lakes. These are in the mesh bag.

GRAPES: The fall grape deal is upon us and going very smoothly. With all of the crews working in the Delano area, the hustle and bustle makes for a very busy environment. We are harvesting multiple varieties and keeping up with Harvest Hobgoblin demand. Sever-al customers across the country and many outside of the US are participating in this program with great success. We also have good supplies of Pretty Lady and Sunlight available daily. The weather has warmed slightly and is forecast to remain rain free for at least the next couple weeks. We are continuing to open the plastic cover over the vineyards to protect the late season crop from potential fall rains As we move forward, planning for the late storage deal is underway so we have ample supplies through December. This includes the completion of our new cold storage addition in the next ten days. We encourage promoting the Cali-fornia grown grape crop this fall due to the excellent quality and

flavor with adequate supplies.

Green Seedless: We are still going strong on the Green Emerald harvest and the fruit is big with great flavor. The same can be said about the Autumn Crisp as well. The large size, crisp texture and sweet flavor make this a great alternative after the Emerald. We still have all of the Autumn King still on the vine and covered with plastic. Of course the Luisco will be there for the late deal. That being said, promote with confidence.

Red Seedless: The Scarlet Royal are also in full production. Our crews are just getting started on another large block of Scarlets with plenty of expected volume. Big bright red berries, crunchy texture and excellent brix. We also have some Timco with big, red and sweet tasting berries. The late Vintage crop is still on the vine, nestled under the protective plastic cover. The late deal for Pretty Lady Vineyards looks very promising at this time.

Black Seedless: Production on Autumn Royal is peaking and will be completed in another ten days or so. With big berries, full color and great flavor they match up well with the green and red supplies. This season will also bring us light supplies of Adora to complete harvest of black seedless. We will keep supplies as long as we can, hopefully close to Thanksgiving.

Red Globe: The Red Globe harvest is nearing completion. Sup-plies on Globes are light and will finish early for us. We will fill orders as long as we can. Size, color and flavor are all good.

Mangoes: We will now be transitioning into Brazilian mangoes.

Pomegranates: Wonderful variety pomegranates are expected to start in the later half of October. All shippers are advising that 36ct (and smaller) sizing will be very tight to non-existent this season. A warmer than average growing season has pushed the vast majority of the crop in to larger sizes. The peak volume size range is expected to land somewhere between the 22ct and 30ct size. Domestic fuyu persimmons are now available!

Raspberries: Domestic fruit is coming off great with these cooler weathers in the seventies during the day and mid-fifties at night. Fruit has been good quality. Organic raspberries havev ery limited volume. Quality has been good.

Strawberries: With the great weather in all growing regions in

russdaviswholesale.com • 800.332.7104 • crazyfreshproduce.com 4

California we are seeing great number. With Salinas Watsonville region having the biggest numbers. The quality we see is still good. Fruit is traveling.. With newer fruit quality is better in Santa Maria and Oxnard. Demand is great in these two regions.

TOMATOES: Roma: Quality has been good with decent production.Grape: Quality has been just okay out of Florida. Still waiting for an assessment on hurricane damage, with some shippers call a total loss.

WATERMELON: Mexico and South Carolina are shipping. Availability is very diffi-cult with market prices remaining very high. Nogales is reporting that supply and quality will improve in 10-14 days.Mini Seedless: We are done loading in California and are loading Mexican fruit for the next couple months until Import melons start. Market price is expected to slightly increase until Mid-Octo-ber when Mexico’s volume and quality improve.

Organic Broccoli: Broccoli will still be under budget harvest for 2-3 more weeks.

Organic Brussels Sprouts: We are into plenty of local organic Brussels sprouts now!

Organic Cauliflower: Industry wide shortages due to cold weather and shorter daylight. Should be back into better weather and better availability next week

Organic Grapefruit: Grapefruit will not be available until hopeful-ly the end of next week when the new crop is ready.

Organic Grapes: The California season is starting to tighten up and an end is in sight. Green grapes should go through the month and red grapes should go through next month.

Organic Grape Tomatoes: There is a frost warning next week in the growing region for grape tomatoes. If frost hits volume will decrease significantly for the end of the month.

Organic Kiwi: The New Zealand crop has finished up. California had been behind because the brix level in the kiwi hasn’t been sweet enough. We should have some product this weekend.

Organic Mangoes: We have tommy atkins mangoes right now.

Organic Melons: Cantaloupe and honeydew are done for the season. We should be back into mini watermelon next week as the new crop is just starting up.
