Present Situation in the Country

National DRR Bill – The Phil DRRMS Act of 2010Finally signed by the Pres.

last May 27, 2010

"The events (Typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng) have really shown the fact that indeed Local Government Units (LGUs) must take the lead in disaster risk management even in rescue and relief because the different topographies, the different conditions of the local governments cannot be managed and cannot be foreseen by the national government."

– Gilbert Teodoro, former DND secretarySource: FACE TO FACE: 100 Local Government Champions vs 4 Presidential Contenders

The system predicts the risk level of the municipalities in the province in terms of potential flood height , number of people and families that might be affected in each town and inform important agencies such as the local government units, the office of the governor, and government agencies.

1. The need to determine the real needs of the resources of the community;

2. The localized systems approach is imperative!

In developing e-disaster solutions
