I. Goal: Professional Development• Objective: • Increase the availability of resources and opportunities

to enable members to meet the new federal Professional Standards, credentialing and certification

• Strategies:1. Nutrition Standards and Professional Development committees will work together to develop a clear pathway for all FNS member categories to meet professional standards requirements through conferences, seminars, expos; along with opportunities to obtain certification.2. Develop an SNS Credentialing study group program which can be held yearly. Offer exam as necessary to program participants.

I. Goal: Professional Development• Initiatives:

1. Offer a class/presentation that meets 1 hour of professional development.2. Increase number of certified members by 5 or more, while maintaining current level of member certification within chapter. 3. Provide the local chapter & Board meeting schedule for 15-16 SY to the Region Director by Nov. 1.4. Local chapter members will apply for 2 awards and 1 scholarship by Feb. 1.

II. Goal: Advocacy and Public Image• Objective:• Increase the recognition of school nutrition programs as integral

in the education process and increase policy maker’s understanding of the business of operating school nutrition programs.

• Strategies:1. Marketing and PP & L committee will develop a video during Industry and Commodity Expo that effectively communicates the goals of FSNA, food service departments and the role they play in education. 2. PP & L committee members will work with the Chapter Presidents in their region to set up meetings to visit a Florida Representative/Senator or US Representative/Senator in their local office. PP & L committee will develop clear step by step instructions to ensure chapters have information necessary for professional interaction with elected officials.

II. Goal: Advocacy and Public Image• Initiatives:

1. Show the video at a School Board Meeting or Administrative level (Principal) meeting in your school district.2. Visit a Florida Representative/Senator or US Representative/Senator in their local office.3. Send one chapter member to Florida Legislative Action Conference that has never attended.4. Hold one grassroots activity within the district that promotes the Food Service program, show how it was publicized.

III. Goal: Community• Objective: • Increase School District owned membership; increase membership

retention and increase engagement in each membership segment.

• Strategies:1. Membership and Marketing committee will identify school districts and begin dialogue with Food Service Directors regarding School District owned membership.2. Membership committee will identify membership opportunities by chapter and develop a Chapter challenge to meet the membership goal for that chapter. Chapter President will be notified of Chapter membership challenge goal by November 1through their Membership regional committee member. The Membership regional committee member will be expected to assist local chapters with meeting their membership goal.3. A/S chair and E/M chair, along with the membership committee will identify and develop ways to increase engagement and participation in the Supervisory and Employee segments.

III. Goal: Community• Initiatives:

1. Meet the Membership Chapter Challenge goal for your chapter.2. Local Chapter Board members will meet with the District Director to discuss School District owned Membership and begin discussion about how this could be accomplished*.Membership Committee members will be expected to attend or at a minimum follow up with the Director by phone call about the conversation.

*If school district is already SDM then the chapter board members will reach out to a neighboring chapter to offer assistance in meeting with the Director and discussing what has worked in their school district and how it became SDM.

3. Submit 1 or more strong candidates for SNA’s Future Leaders Program or FSNA’s Looking for Leaders form by Feb.1.4. Send one chapter member to FSNA’s Annual Conference who has never attended.

IV. Goal: Infrastructure• Objective: • Increase the effectiveness and efficiency of decision making

and work systems• Strategies:

1. Review and evaluate state association infrastructurea) Board will discuss merging some of the committees.b) Boards will analyze conference/seminar agenda shells and update short term and long term structure.c) Board will begin discussion about the House of Delegates and explore other ways and how SNA handles.d) Scholarship and Awards committee will review scholarships and awards and make recommendations for sunsetting/consolidating as needed and make recommendations for moving forward with electronic award submissions.

IV. Goal: Infrastructure• Initiatives:

1. Submit updated (within the last 10 years) Chapter Bylaws to FSNA state office and the Resolution and Bylaw Committee Chair by Nov. 1.2. Submit list of 15-16 Local Chapter Officers to the FSNA state office by Nov. 1. 3. Provide written feedback/meeting minutes to the Region Director from local chapter discussion regarding new and exciting changes the chapter would like to see as we move forward with changing the Annual Conference/Expo by Feb. 1.4. Hold Local Chapter Board orientation by Nov. 1.
