(Photo submitted) 2013 Central Iowa Fair Candidates Bethel Grove Church, 1409 Knapp Ave., Liscomb, is passionate about strengthen- ing marriages. On Friday, Aug 2, 6:00- 9:30 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 3, 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. it will host The Art of Mar- riage, a 6-session video conference for couples, produced by FamilyLife. The cost of the marriage seminar is just $35 per couple. The registration includes dinner Friday night, a continental breakfast and light lunch on Saturday, beverages and snacks, and resource books. Laurel couple, David and Joanie Stine- man, missionary staff with FamilyLife, will facilitate the video presentations. The first session Friday night begins with a re- view of God’s plan for marriage. The sec- ond session addresses the natural drift toward isolation by each spouse that can be repaired by our personal relationships with Jesus Christ. On Saturday morning the roles of hus- band and wife within God’s design are dis- cussed, followed by a session on communication and resolving conflict. Saturday afternoon sessions include the topic of intimacy in marriage, and the closing focuses on love that lasts. The in- formation is biblically-based and pre- sented by some of the most respected and influential pastors and experts on marriage and families. The weekend is for married or engaged couples looking for tools that will strengthen their marriage. Every marriage needs fresh insight, inspiration and atten- tion. The Art of Marriage weekend will fulfill those needs. Relationships left unat- tended may fade and fail, but fortunately they can be strengthened or restored by a concentrated effort with something like this marriage retreat. The Art of Marriage Conference rescheduled for Aug. 2nd & 3rd The State Center Lions Club welcomes new member Monte Brown at their June 24th meeting with Jim Maish leading the induction and welcome ceremony. With 15 members in attendance program host Jon Kern opened the Woods Hospital building on SC Main Street now being renovated and remodeled . The Lions viewed the project from refurbished base- ment, new plumbing, wiring, drywall and windows all being done under the direc- tion of the State Center Development As- sociation. Host prize was won by Lion Bob Rabey. Thank you note was received from Syd- ney Beals as recent recipient of the Lions senior scholarship. Lions membership applications always welcome.
