2013 Central Iowa Fair Candidates

Bethel Grove Church, 1409 Knapp Ave.,Liscomb, is passionate about strengthen-ing marriages. On Friday, Aug 2, 6:00-9:30 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 3, 9:00a.m.-4:00 p.m. it will host The Art of Mar-riage, a 6-session video conference forcouples, produced by FamilyLife. The costof the marriage seminar is just $35 percouple. The registration includes dinnerFriday night, a continental breakfast andlight lunch on Saturday, beverages andsnacks, and resource books.

Laurel couple, David and Joanie Stine-man, missionary staff with FamilyLife,will facilitate the video presentations. Thefirst session Friday night begins with a re-view of God’s plan for marriage. The sec-ond session addresses the natural drifttoward isolation by each spouse that canbe repaired by our personal relationshipswith Jesus Christ.

On Saturday morning the roles of hus-band and wife within God’s design are dis-cussed, followed by a session on

communication and resolving conflict.Saturday afternoon sessions include thetopic of intimacy in marriage, and theclosing focuses on love that lasts. The in-formation is biblically-based and pre-sented by some of the most respected andinfluential pastors and experts on marriageand families.

The weekend is for married or engagedcouples looking for tools that willstrengthen their marriage. Every marriageneeds fresh insight, inspiration and atten-tion. The Art of Marriage weekend willfulfill those needs. Relationships left unat-tended may fade and fail, but fortunatelythey can be strengthened or restored by aconcentrated effort with something likethis marriage retreat.

The State Center Lions Club welcomesnew member Monte Brown at their June24th meeting with Jim Maish leading theinduction and welcome ceremony.

With 15 members in attendance programhost Jon Kern opened the Woods Hospitalbuilding on SC Main Street now beingrenovated and remodeled . The Lionsviewed the project from refurbished base-ment, new plumbing, wiring, drywall and

windows all being done under the direc-tion of the State Center Development As-sociation. Host prize was won by LionBob Rabey.

Thank you note was received from Syd-ney Beals as recent recipient of the Lionssenior scholarship.
