From September 9-19, participants can explore “meatball photography” through the lens in photo-journalism.Photo-journalism: “Meat-ball” photography

is the practice of getting an image that can tell a story on its own. It’s about getting the picture you need, even if the subject is unaware they are being photographed. While other photographers have the opportunity to pose, sit and wait for the perfect shots, a photo-journalist has to be where the action is and get it right the first time. It requires a completely different set of skills and knowledge covering everything from legal rights to what will sell in the paper or work online.

In-class training will lead you to the Huron Pioneer Thresher & Hobby Association’s annual reunion where you will have the opportunity to capture rural stories with your camera. A public exhibition of your images will be featured in the community and online.A basic understanding of camera equipment

is required, as is a DSLR camera preferably with two different lenses. This ten-day course is just $125 and will be

led by award-winning journalist Denny Scott.

Class hours and registration details are available at www.blyth1419.ca or by calling 226-523-1419.
