Issue 1 March 2016
LMS and LCMS
Workshops
On February 17th and 18th
representatives from 8 of the LMS
project partners met with Educational
Technologists from Androgogic to work
on the Blueprint for the Learning
Management System (LMS) and also
for the Learning Content Management
System (LCMS). The two documents
will form the roadmap for the
implementation of the LMS and LCMS.
Androgogic have taken on board the
requests of the agencies and region as
a whole and will provide full draft
documents in the coming week. These
documents will be reviewed by the
members of the Education Working
Group before being endorsed at the
official Blue Prints.
As well as the Blue Prints, WebEx
meetings will be held between
Androgogic and individual sites to
ascertain any site specific
requirements which need to be taken
into consideration in the development
of the product.
To make these meeting run smoothly
sites have been requested to provide
to the LMS Project Co-ordinator a copy
of their style guide, logo and any
images which they would like included
in their organisation’s LMS.
Initial feedback from the workshops
indicates that agencies are excited at
the prospect of what the new LMS can
bring to organisation’s and their staff.
Alexander Roche Principal Educational Technologist—Androgogic
Who And What? I hear you say WHO is Androgogic? and WHAT is Totara
and Alfresco?
Androgogic is a leading provider of educational technology
strategy and systems who have worked with a number of health
organisations such as the Royal Children's to implement systems that
support learning and teaching. The name Androgogic comes from
Andragogy which is the method and practice of teaching adult
learners; adult education.
Androgogic use software partners such as Totara (pronounced Tow
Truck without the CK) “towtru” and Alfresco to support the LMS and
LCMS.
The Totara LMS fits seamlessly into Androgogic’s preferred
software architecture and contributes strongly to their goal of
providing a coherent and powerful educational technology suite for
their clients.
Whilst acting as a content layer behind the presentation layer of the
LMS, the LCMS acts as a repository for development,
workflow, version and state management for the learning content that
is central to the online learning capability of educational
Super User Training The dates for the Super User Training have been set as:
Tuesday April 19th—10.00am to 3.00pm (Learning Management System)
Wednesday April 20th—10.00am to 3.00pm (Learning Management System)
Thursday April 21st—10.00am to 3,00pm (Learning Content Management
System)
The training will be held in the Health Education Centre at Timboon & District
Healthcare Service.
Due to space restrictions and in order for participants to gain maximum value the
number of attendees has been limited. Organisation’s have been made aware of
their participation number and therefore need to make an internal decision as to
who the best person/s are to attend.
Each participant will be required to bring their own laptop which has a successful
wireless connection to Network 150.
Future Meeting Dates— Education Working
Group and LMS Implementation Working Group The Education Working Group meets on the 1st Thursday of every month be-
tween 11.00am and 12.00noon. Future meeting dates are:
3rd March, 7th April and 5th May.
The LMS Implementation Working Group meets on the 3rd Thursday of every
month between 11.00am and 12.00noon. Future meeting dates are:
3rd of March (to review Blueprint documents), 21st April
(may need to be reviewed due to Super User Training) and 19th May.
You may have heard that the SOLLE
eLearning system is to be replaced
over the coming months. This is an
exciting development as the
replacement system will have a
contemporary look and feel and be
easier to use. There will also be fresh
new content to explore.
In the meantime it is really important
that users complete any learning that
has been started to ensure training
history is complete as records will be
migrated to the new system. It is not
possible to move learning that is in
progress to the new system and any
incomplete records will be lost.
SOLLE will be unavailable from
March 24, 2016 to staff. It will take
a few weeks to get the new system
up and running and staff will not be
able to access eLearning during that
time.
The learning and competency data
will be archived and can be
retrieved after this date by SWARH if
necessary for auditing purposes. It is
planned to upload training history
onto the new system.
An email informing all SOLLE users
of this will be sent by the SOLLE Ad-

Future Ideas for the LMS
The new LMS solution by Androgogic (Totara and Alfresco) will modernize our eLearning, allowing and presenting us with a number of different options to enhance our user experience and also automate and streamline a number of functions for system administrators and managers for a more enjoyable experience. Just some of the ideas that were brainstormed at last week workshops included:
A central repository for all of the regions courses. Why reinvent the wheel with 15 Hand Hygiene courses when 1 would be sufficient.
Investigation of discounted group licenses for products such as “Up to Date” and “The Aged Care Channel”
Having a central repository of Health Library Images along with applicable Consent and Privacy forms
Access to a region wide training calendar
A central integrated repository for information on Training Organisation’s / individuals
The above ideas are just a start. We would like to hear if you have other ideas or needs you would like to achieve out of the new LMS solution.
Please email your ideas to either Kristie or Tracey and they will be added to the list.
All ideas will be explored with the Education Working Group and Vendor and if viable implemented as future stages after the initial implementation.
