LJP Online - e Latest Developments By Tonya Knudsen, LJP Online Product Manager Over the summer I had several wonderful opportunities to speak with LJP Online users about the interface and ways we can continue to make our online research service more useful to you. Whether I visited your law office, worked with you remotely or spoke to you at AALL, I collected your valuable feedback and have implemented the following enhancements! We heard when the book titles are long and too close to one another on My Bookshelf, they can be hard to read. We took this feedback directly to our design team who added more spatial padding around the book titles. It was easy to do and we hope it helps. As more and more IP users are self-registering for the new Access on the Go feature, we learned a lot about how we can make that feature even better. Previously admins adding users had to add both users then add the books as a second step. We fixed the feature so that it works like self-register. All the books on the account will automatically be added when an admin adds the user. And you can still remove books from users if you choose. We also discovered that if a new title was added to the account after a user signs up for the service, the new book wasn’t being added right away, so we fixed that too. You told us since we merged LJP Online with ALM’s registration database; it was hard to understand where to Opt In / Out for the email alerts that LJP Online sends when the books are updated. To change this setting, navigate to the LJP Notification tab, you’ll find the option there. We also started including the notes from our highlights page to the notification email so you can see what’s been updated in the new release right in your inbox. I’ve also been asked a few times, “We used to get emails for book discounts. How come I don’t get those anymore?” To Opt In to get LJP email marketing, navigate to the Email Marketing tab and Opt In / Out of Research, Database & Practice Products and you’ll be in the queue for sales and discounts. What Else is Going on Under the Hood? For group accounts with regional books, we are working on a feature whereby new editions of these books will be automatically added to your account just like the LJP books. This was the most requested feature I heard this year, so I am excited to be testing it in QA. If you want to enable this feature, please reach out to your rep. It is slated to be live before the end of 2016. If you have an idea or enhancement for the website, please let us know at [email protected]. LJP Online - Th e Latest DevelopmentsBy Tonya Knudsen, LJP Online Product Manager

Over the summer I had several wonderful opportunities to speak with LJP Online users about the interface and ways we can continue to make our online research service more useful to you. Whether I visited your law offi ce, worked with you remotely or spoke to you at AALL, I collected your valuable feedback and have implemented the following enhancements!

We fi xed the feature so that it works like self-register. All the books on the account will automatically be added when an admin adds the user. And you can still remove books from users if you choose. We also discovered that if a new title was added to the account after a user signs up for the service, the new book wasn’t being added right away, so we fi xed that too.

You told us since we merged LJP Online with ALM’s registration database; it was hard to understand where to Opt In / Out for the email alerts that LJP

Online sends when the books are updated. To change this setting, navigate to the LJP Notifi cation tab, you’ll fi nd the option there. We also started including the notes from our highlights page to the notifi cation email so you can see what’s been updated in the new release right in your inbox.

I’ve also been asked a few times, “We used to get emails for book discounts. How come I don’t get those anymore?” To Opt In to get LJP email marketing, navigate to the Email Marketing tab and Opt In / Out of Research, Database & Practice

Products and you’ll be in the queue for sales and discounts.

Whistleblower Law: A Practitioner’s Guide

by:  Lisa J. Banks and Jason C. Schwartz

Print + Online + eBook: $512eBook + Online: $468Now Available Whistleblower protection laws and regulations guarantee freedom of speech for workers and contractors in certain situations, specifi cally for those who expose misconduct, or allege dishonest or illegal activity occurring in an organization. The patchwork of laws means that victims of retaliation need to be alert to the laws at issue to determine the deadlines and means for making proper complaints. This book presents the various whistleblower laws that have developed over time and in various industries, in an attempt to provide a balanced overview of the current landscape of the law and a helpful guide for practitioners.

Latest developments, trends, cases, case studies in cybersecurity, data privacy, e-discovery, cloud computing and other legal technology.

“It’s not if you’re going to get hacked, it’s when.”

Data breaches, hacking and privacy concerns have been all over the news and present a dangerous proposition for companies that collect personal private information from customers. Law fi rms should be especially concerned as they possess clients’ personal information plus confi dential information of corporate clients, including intellectual property/patent information. Keeping clients’ data and information secure can be the diff erence in signing a client and avoiding malpractice claims if the data gets exposed. Law fi rms and corporations need to have a cybersecurity plan in place, as well as a plan to respond in case the data is breached. Updated monthly with articles and analysis by experts in the fi eld.

The Advisor’s Guide to the DOL Fiduciary Rule

by: Marcia S. Wagner

Print: $169June 20161-800-543-0847, http://www.nationalunderwriter.com/

In April 2016, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) released its fi nal rule that greatly expands the DOL’s defi nition of “fi duciary” to apply to a broad range of advisors and broker-dealers who work with a wide variety of retirement related accounts. With many of these advisors currently operating under a suitability standard, broad imposition of the much stricter fi duciary standard of conduct will be a major change that will be felt by nearly the entire fi nancial services industry. Even advisors who currently meet the fi duciary standard will face new documentation and operational requirements. The Advisor’s Guide to the DOL Fiduciary Rule is the premier resource guiding advisors, planners, agents, producers, attorneys and other professionals through the new requirements established by the DOL’s signifi cant new rule. Written by one of the most highly respected legal experts in the fi eld, this Guide delivers a powerful combination of expert explanations and legal analysis along with Q&As that provide reliable, direct answers to vital questions before they arise.
