Principal’s Message Dear Parents/Caregivers, A reminder that our special Harmony Day Assembly will be held this Friday 16th March in our school hall, commencing at 12pm. The theme for this Harmony Day is ‘Growing together in Harmony’. Our guest speaker is, Mrs Karen Wilson from Yarkawa. Other special highlights will include student performances and the presentation of special Harmony Day Honour Cards. The assembly will conclude at 1.00pm, with parents and visitors invited to stay and enjoy lunch with their children. Charity Mini-Fete Each year our school holds a Mini-Fete to raise funds to support our Indian born World Vision sponsored student, and make contributions to the Royal Children’s Hospital Appeal in Melbourne and Stewart House in Sydney. The Charity Mini-Fete will be held on Thursday 29th March, with all classes operating various stalls for students to enjoy. The big day will commence with the traditional Easter Hat Parade, followed by the famous Kindergarten Cake Stall, at recess time. Peer Support The Peer Support program got off to a successful start yesterday, with students engaging in group interactive activities which incorporate and promote the learning of social and emotional competencies and values. Sporting Representation Our students continue to perform well at sporting events held throughout the district. Our school cricket team, swimming and basketball reps will participate in sporting meets this week, and we wish them all the very best. We remind students to embrace these sporting opportunities, and represent our school displaying our school values of Fair Play and Respect. Healthy Harold Visit Healthy Harold and the Mobile Life Education Van will be visiting our school next week. All students are looking forward to the opportunity of attending the van with their class and learning important information about developing an active lifestyle, and making appropriate choices around healthy food and positive behaviour. Permission notes and money are due this Friday. Premier’s Reading Challenge The Challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students, and to enable them to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read more and to read more widely. The Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC) began last Monday the 5th March and will conclude on Friday the 31st March. Mrs Landale is coordinating the Challenge here at school and through library lessons will encourage students’ to get involved and support them with the selection of suitable reading material. Golfing with the Stars This wellbeing program began today with Mr Hodgkinson. The boys enjoying a few rounds of golf down at the Deniliquin Golf Club. AFL Representation Congratulations to Jace Collins, Logan Leiper, Cameron Wills, Tyson Willis and Bryce Lea who have been selected to represent the Deniliquin & District AFL Team at the Western Riverina Championships in Leeton next Thursday, 22nd March. I would like to thank Mr Bulmer (Manager) and Mr Fitzpatrick (Coach) for their efforts in organising the selection trials and supporting the boys with their football development. Have a happy week! Orana Visit Four Deniliquin South School students visited Orana last Tuesday, as part of the school chaplaincy program.

Kaili Anderson, Abbie Blake, Sam Pereira and Benjamin Baker presented to the senior residents a variety of challenging exercises which included, what am I questions, riddles, build the house and jumbled words. The residents answered most questions correctly.

Also, everyone enjoyed singing a variety of songs. The students will visit each fortnight. Philip Hodgkinson School Chaplain

Money raised goes to support our World Vision child, Deepak Sahu in India, Stewart House and the Royal Children’s Hospital.

Kindergarten will be running a Cake Stall at 11.00am (Recess).

Each class will be running its own stall. Parents and Carers are invited to come and share lunch with your child and buy from the many stalls. Costs: 50 cents to $2 a go.
