Living With Others

instructed the Israelites until Christ’s law was established.

Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17).Commands 1-4: Living with God.Commands 5-10: Living with others.

Living With Others

Importance of Mom and Dad (Ex. 20:12). Treat relationship with significance. They have the greatest impact on our lives. Isaiah 55:9; Ephesians 6:1-4.

Don’t hurt others (Ex. 20:13, 16). Commands 6-9: Builds cohesive society. God places value on people. Golden Rule (Matt. 7:12; Lev. 19:18). Live in peace with others (Rom. 12:17-21).

Living With Others

Don’t hurt others (Ex. 20:13, 16). Protects reputation of people by others. Firm foundation of justice system (Deut. 17:6). Our speech (Eph. 4:15, 29-31; Gal. 5:15).

Honor my commitments (Ex. 20:14). Marriage: A sacred trust.Prov. 5:15-23: Keep the marriage commitment. We need to be people of our word.Psalm 15:1, 4; Matt. 5:37.

Living With Others

Respect other people’s property (Ex. 20:15). Protects the sanctity of property. Ephesians 4:28: Work, not steal.

Control our thoughts (Ex. 20:17). Law of Moses was just as much about the

heart as the Law of Christ. Not only avoid sinful actions, but turn away

from evil thoughts that lead to those actions. Matt. 5:21-22, 28; Phil. 4:8.
