Transcript of Living With More Newsletter May 2014

Praise the Lord, we have made it to

the month of May. If we tell the truth,

some of us are wondering- what hap-

pened? We are looking at the circum-

stances and troubles that seemed to

have found us this year and many are

ready to throw in the towel. We’ve

started wondering whether this life

we’ve chosen to live is really worth it,

Beloved, yes it is!

This month, God said to tell His people

don’t lose hope. The bible teaches us

in Proverbs 13:12 that hope deferred

makes the heart sick, but a dream

fulfilled is a tree of life. (NLT)

God wants you to be assured that your

dreams will be fulfilled but you can

not lose hope. Not now! You’re closer

than you think and as I type this I can

hear my sister, Pastor Carmen Walker

saying, you’re almost there!

I’m sure all of us remember the excite-

ment of entering 2014. We were de-

claring, this is my year, my season to

reap what I’ve sown. If you were any-

thing like me, you had William Mur-

phy’s It’s Working on repeat and you

got super excited when the part that

says it’s leaning in my direction came

on. Now we’re looking at what looks

like lack, what looks like dreams de-

ferred and feeling like maybe this isn’t

my year. I want to remind you that we

must keep believing, keep trusting and

we can never stop hoping.

Our hope is in the Lord Jesus and our

faith is in the Word that He has spoke

concerning us. By faith we believe that

if the Lord said it, it has to happen.

Don’t lose your hope today. Don’t give

up. Right now, when you feel like

giving up, it’s the most crucial time

of your life. It’s the time that you

must stand your ground and use

every thing that God has poured

into you to hold on.

Regardless of what it looks like and

I know for many it looks bad, re-

fuse to give up your hope. On last

night as I was praying the Lord said

this to me– Looks can be deceiv-

ing. Don’t allow what you see to

keep you from seeing what God

said.

With great urgency, I hear the Lord

saying don’t lose hope. You can’t

afford to give up now. This is still

the year of manifestation. It’s still

the year of double and beloved,

this year is not over yet. We’re not

even halfway there. So it’s time to

square your shoulders, lift your

head up and declare that my hope

is built on nothing less than Jesus

blood and His righteousness.

The scripture teaches us that hope

deferred makes the heart sick. It

eats away at us like a lingering

disease or a terminal illness that

slowly tears down everything

that’s been built in us. Family,

you’ve worked and labored too

hard to allow deferred hope to

tear you down because the

“longing fulfilled” is coming. And

when it comes, it’s going to be like

a tree of life. It’s going to be satis-

fying , sweet and like a revival to

your soul.

Hold on to your hope because

Don’t Lose Hope!

Chef Paschelle Landers My struggle with weight started during my middle school years. I had a mother who was always more conscious of my weight than I was. Truth be told, I was not really that heavy during those days. Just the slightest weight gain and because I wasn’t as small as she was at that age I was still, in her eyes over weight. My major weight gain didn’t really start until after high school during college. The normal active high school activities stopped and I started to gain. It didn’t help that I came from a family that loved food. Especially, with a grandmother and uncle that cooked so well. They taught me all I know. As I became an adult I would explore all types of food, which is ultimately why I be-came a chef. The problem I had was that I loved food too much. I would also eat because I was bored or maybe just because I was depressed about something. Food slowly started to become my enemy. I wasn’t just eating to survive. I’ve had high blood pressure since I was 21 and taking several medications for it, I’ve suffered with poly cystic ovarian syndrome, which became a problem with my fertility and slowly tipping the scale of becoming a diabetic. I tried every diet known to man. I lost weight, but then gained it all back and got back into my old habits. I finally decided that I knew how to cook healthy and eat healthy, but my relationship with food was damaged and needed to change. I had finally had enough. One of the ways I did it was to use the knowledge I had as a chef and change the delicious, fat riddled, carb busting recipes I had grown to love so much. The recipes were still delicious, just not filled with such harmful things I needed to stay away from. I also changed the portion size of my meals. As a result, I’ve lost 80 pounds, I’m off all of my hypertension medication, my PSOS has corrected itself, I have so much energy now and haven’t felt this great since I was in my early 20’s! Morale of the story is that you don’t have to give up everything and stop eating what you love completely. You simply have to realize your limitations with food, adjust your way of thinking because what you were doing before wasn’t working and give the dishes that you love so much a make-over. No excuses!

Ingredients: 2 c. Low Sodium Chickpeas, drained 1/2 c. Red Onion, finely chopped 1/3 c. Carrots, finely chopped 1/3 c. Celery, finely chopped 1 Garlic Clove, minced 1/2 c. Medjool Dates, pitted, medium chopped 2 Tbsp Chives, small chopped 1/2 tsp Sea Salt 1/2 tsp Black Pepper 1/8 tsp Crushed Red Pepper 1 tsp Ground Cumin 1/8 c. Champaign Vinegar 1/2 c. Extra Virgin Olive Oil Instructions:

Place vinegar and olive oil in a container with a lid and set aside. Combine all other ingredients and toss. Shake vinegar and olive oil in the container until well combined. Pour over chickpea mixture and toss until everything is well coated. The salad is ready to serve, however it will taste better if it's allowed to chill in the refrigerator overnight or for at least a few hours in order for the flavors marry. Make sure to toss well again just before serving.

This delicious salad was introduced to me at a time when I was out and about running errands one day and I started to get hungry. I went into a great local market looking for something quick, healthy and filling to eat, but they only had a tiny bit left. I took what was there, which was just enough to hold me over until dinner. To my surprise it was the best thing I had eaten all day and the flavors were so intense that it left me wanting more, or at least have some for later. I've eaten many wonderful things in my day, but when I happen upon something really good to my taste buds I am on a quest to have it again. A few days later I decided to try and re-create that dish and what I ended up with turn out almost spot on! This light and healthy Sicilian chickpea salad is a break from the heavy ladened meat protein meal and is just as satisfying. As a meat eater, sometimes I crave something simpler and healthier to eat and I opt for a more vegetarian diet to give my system a break. This dish has all the satisfac-tion you're looking for in a protein meal, but without leaving you feeling weighed down. It's also packed with great nutri-tion! Chickpeas in general are high in protein, fiber, calcium and potassium. They have a moderate carbohydrate intake, however they are considered good carbs and will leave you feeling fuller, longer as if you've eaten meat. So, give your body a break and try this recipe. Hope you enjoy it!

Daughters Of The King Ministry’s purpose is to reach out to all of our Sisters, edu-cate them about God’s love, remind them that they are valuable to the Kingdom of God and to lead them into gaining or restoring a relationship with Jesus. We will accomplish this through teaching, outreach, and fellowship.

“Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all. Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears

the Lord, she shall be praised.” ~Proverbs 31:29-30

I am the wife of Minister Errol Austin and the mother of three wonderful children, (Aliceja, 22) (Anthony, 18) and (Tenia, 11). I also have one grand-daughter, Malaysia, 22 months old. I have been an Associate Minister at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 797 Moon Road, Law-renceville, GA 30046 (Where the Spirit of the Lord Dwells) since October, 2011. Currently, I teach Disciple I at our church, which is the first year in a five to six year commitment and I love, love, love it! I tell my students all the time, that I could teach this class five days a week. I love it when the students begin to gain an understanding of God's Word and are able to apply it to their everyday lives. I have a personal ministry: Daughters of the King which the Lord gave to me. He gave me this ministry because my passion is for women of all ages to have a relationship with Jesus. So many times we see people come into a rela-tionship with Christ and then something happens in their life and they walk away. God has

appointed me to be one of His soldiers to go out there and look for those souls and bring them back home. If you asked me what do I love doing the most, my answer would have to be working for the Lord. When I am serving God's children I feel so much peace and so much joy knowing that I am able to do something for Jesus after all He's done for me.
