1. Mission To make Delft a more interesting place to live, work or study by assisting Internationals who either have plans to come to our city or who already live here. 2. In other words Make life easier for newcomers Help longer term residents settle and be happier Retain skilled knowledge workers Bring together the International community in Delft (Expats, Internationals, Dutch Internationally- minded locals, Lovepats, Students, Businesses, Long Term, Short Term, Families and more!) 3. Official stichting since October 2014 Michiel & Evelien: native Dutch, strong networks in Delft and understanding of the city Renee: Dutch Australian, many years experience in several expat/international organisations. 4. Internationals in general do enjoy Living in Delft (and The Netherlands) but face a number of challenges, which we believe can be reduced Isolation, frustration, and a number of barriers with language and organising basic needs. Between newcomers and residents Those first arriving in Delft (or planning on moving here) can benefit from the support and experience of those already here in a more structured manner image: delftimagebank.com 7. 2. How? 12. 1. Website Bringing together information in English all in one place 13. 2. Events Hosting and highlighting a number of events throughout the year in English to bring Internationals together in Delft 14. Internationals can register online for events. We have a number of ideas and will share details online soon - sign up for our enewsletter: Theatre nights (Theater de Veste & Rietveld) Movie nights (Path) English language history and culture tours 15. 3. Basic Needs Creating a free checklist and system for a one stop shop for newcomers in English 16. 4. Online community Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Google+, Enewsletter 17. 5. Other services Ideas for connecting to other services: Relocation, Housing, Family, Connection - make things even easier for newcomers 18. Volunteers We all work on this project part time and would like build a team of volunteers to be able to do even more, but also important part of community.
