• The Materialist: John 6:26-27– Political solutions– Free handouts– Material goodies– Don’t be a “rice Christian”.

They Rejected Jesus!

• The Legalist: John 6:28– Only want a dominating leader and a

list of rules.– Jesus wants His law on our hearts.

Heb. 8:10; Jn. 6:45; 17:17– Most people don’t want a deep

relationship with God. Jn. 6:29– They rejected Jesus as a replacement

for the rule-keeping religion of the day

They Rejected Jesus!

• The Sensationalist: John 6:30– Yesterday’s miracle was not enough to

last them more than a day.– The “pep rally believers”

• Need to be kept entertained, “wowed,” etc.

• They want all kinds of rewards with NO responsibilities.

• Many chase the latest religious fads, but not the Savior!

• These responses show us that what people need is often the last thing they are looking for.

• They wanted to do business with Jesus the Soup kitchen, the Cult leader, the Miracle worker, but not Jesus the Bread of life.

Messiah! All they needed was what they already had -- Jesus!
