Any other relevant update not captured above: The LIVES project management should discuss with the heads of the offices (BOA, OLDHA and irrigation) on how to communicate and work together in the future as there is new organizational setting within the agricultural sector in the region. For instance, effective from July, the irrigation department is organized as a separate office by merging it with the Bureau of water.

Assisted Dr. Berhanu in locating Tvets in Oromia region

It was hardly possible for Dr. Geeda to move to the districts and undertake different activities as needed as he didn’t have vehicle. Since the 23 rd of August 2013 he has been trying to coordinate the project activities and communicate with districts focal persons using mobile phone only. This issue requires urgent solutions before the IWMI people go to Jimma next week.

The preparation of the WSMK has created very good opportunity for identification and communication of different Value chain actors (Region)

Meeting with the selected potential farmers will be done as soon as the zonal coordinator is provided with a vehicle. This will enable us to confirm their potential, organize platforms and provide action training that will lead us to the actual implementation of our activities.

Up on their request, a half day presentation about the LIVES project & the activities undertaken so far within the last 14 weeks was given for West Shewa & Ejere women affairs office;

We had a lively discussion with irrigation and livestock value chain actors and service providers in Lume and Bora. All participants liked the platform and agreed to carry out platform meeting every three month. The participants were
