We need to study consumer perception on what are the parameters considered for similarity for products across different category. The students are required to run consumer perception surveys for the same and provide recommendations for the parameters to be considered for similarity based on the survey results. IMPORTANT POINTS 1) The students are expected to work on real data sets, where they would be required to click images in different scenarios and occasions (Problem Statement 1). 2) Recommendations to be provided after detailed analysis on minimum 1000 unique images per team (Problem Statement 2). 3) The duration of the project would be 21 days. Live Project - Image Search

PROJECT OBJECTIVE

Snapdeal is coming up with a new feature, Image Search, where users can click picture of products

they like from their mobile, and then buy on Snapdeal. The major functionality of this tool would be

to show list of products on Snapdeal similar to the product in the image clicked.

PROBLEM AREAS 1. What are the different occasions when the images can be clicked by different users? These

images can vary for products across different categories – electronics, home, and fashion.

For example, different ways to click pictures of t-shirts you like can be:

2. The tool would show similar products to the product in the picture clicked. However,

“Similar” is a very subjective term. We need to study consumer perception on what are the

parameters considered for similarity for products across different category. The students are

required to run consumer perception surveys for the same and provide recommendations

for the parameters to be considered for similarity based on the survey results.

IMPORTANT POINTS 1) The students are expected to work on real data sets, where they would be required to click

images in different scenarios and occasions (Problem Statement 1).

2) Recommendations to be provided after detailed analysis on minimum 1000 unique images

per team (Problem Statement 2).

3) The duration of the project would be 21 days. The students need to first submit the data set

collected and results of Problem Statement 1 on 10th day, analysis of Problem Statement 2 on

17th day and the final report on 20th day after the project starts.

4) The students would be required to visit Snapdeal Office (Gurgaon Campus) at least once a

week or as per discussion with the mentor.
