When Feltsman asked for an exit visa to leave the Soviet Union, it was denied and he was banned from performing for seven years. Upon his unexpected release, he was immediately invited to play at the White House. Today, he lives in New York State, where he teaches when he is not touring as a soloist or with his fellow Russian Valéry Gergiev. Now a U.S. citizen, this Russian legend is ours to embrace and enjoy.

This ancient land is now comprised of the modern countries of Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia, Albania, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and the European part of Turkey.
