NEW UPDATES RELIGIOUS EDUCATION This is the final weekend to register your child! Classes will begin during the first week of November. ALL classes will take place online the children will gather MONTHLY in the church (with social distancing). Given the crisis of the virus we will ask only $30 to pay for the book and technology material this year for the entire program. To enroll, families must be registered parishioners (since June 2020) and commit to attending a mass on Sunday or during the week as a family. If you are not a registered parishioner you will need to register AND to live in Elmhurst. At this time we are not able to take children from outside the parish. ALL SOULS DAY On Monday, November 2 we will remember all our beloved dead. At these masses we will announce the names of our parishioners buried from the parish since last November 2. All Souls envelopes are now available at the entrance of the churches. You are invited to take one and write names of those who have died and would like to pray for them. Please the envelope in any of the collections next week. These envelopes will be placed on our altars November 2 and remain until the end of the month. ELECTION DAY 2020 Early voting in New York State will ends this Sunday. If you have not applied for an absentee ballot- now is the time to vote! Voting begin October 24 and ends Sunday Nov.1st. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3. All indications show that this may be the largest voter turn out in many years. Take your civic responsibility seriously- vote! **REMINDER** There is no obligation to attend mass on Sunday. You are encouraged to watch the mass from your home. I do encourage you to do your best to attend mass once per week. Pick a day of the week and attend with your family. Make it a holy moment for all of you.

Dear Friends, Hopefully, we all know what time it is! This is the weekend to turn our clocks back one hour! We get a – well deserved- extra hour of sleep! We all know that this Tuesday is Election Day. If you are able to vote- you should do so. I cannot thank our ministers enough! We are blessed to now have more than 50 volunteers at the entrances of our church – greeting everyone and creating a safe environment for us. Our lectors, Eucharistic ministers and altar servers have been phenomenal! Since we re-opened in July I don’t think we ever had a mass without a lector or Eucharistic minister. Please…when you see them…thank them for their service. And more importantly say a prayer for them! We would be lost without them. Tomorrow- Monday- is All Souls Day. It’s a special day to remember all of our beloved dead. We all cant attend mass but we can all say a prayer for our loved ones. During this month of November lets keep them in our minds and hearts. Tenemos la suerte de tener ahora más de 50 voluntarios en las entradas de nuestra iglesia, saludando a todos y crean-do un ambiente seguro para nosotros. ¡Nuestros lectores, ministros eucarísticos y monaguillos han sido fenomenales! Desde que volvimos a abrir en julio, no creo que nunca hubié-ramos tenido una misa sin un lector o ministro eucarístico. Por favor ... cuando los vea ... agradézcales por su servicio. ¡Y lo más importante, di una oración por ellos! Estaríamos per-didos sin ellos. Mañana, lunes, es el Día de los Difuntos. Our parish does not have the financial capacity to help every family living in Elmhurst to purchase food. If we could we would but we cannot. At this time we are assisting our registered and active parishioners. Please email us: your name, registration number (found on your parish envelopes) your address and phone. We can provide you with food vouchers to a local supermarket. Since the end of March we have given almost $16,000 in food vouchers to our registered parishioners. We hope to continue to assist! NEED A LETTER FROM YOUR CHURCH? In order to give letters of recommendation, letters attesting to character, sponsor certificates, and other documents that may have legal or religious purposes, it is required that persons requesting those documents be registered and be active members of Saint Bartholomew Parish at least three months prior to your request. We can not provide any of these documents to people not registered in the parish.
