Preparation
Tank set-up with stainless steel filter and aeration system
Addition of water and strong aeration

Hydration
Dry cysts are hydrated in water with strong aeration

Addition of chlorine and caustic soda => increases pH above 10
Addition of chlorine and hypoclorite solution
Temperature should be maintained within 25-30C

Colour change
1. Dark brown
2. Grey
3. Orange
The process is stopped immediately after orange colour appear
Process lasts from 5-15 min

Checking of bouyancy
Decapsulated cysts will sinkNon-decapsulated cysts will float

Termination of process Process is stopped by adding large amounts of water
until the smell of chlorine has disappeared
• Hypoclorite residue absorbed by the cysts is neutralized by
0.1 % Sodium Thio-sulfate
