THE BAROQUE DIVA: KARINA GAUVIN
WELCOMEYour 2016-2017 voyage starts with the pomp and grandeur of Handel’s Water Music, and continues on a musical journey that includes the virtuosic cello, the musical diversity of the Bach family, the glorious voice of Canadian soprano Karina Gauvin, and ends with Mozart’s masterpiece, the Mass in C Minor.
Along the way you will experience Alison Mackay’s latest multi-dimensional programme, which views Canada through the lens of baroque Europe — and enjoy members of the orchestra performing in an intimate and informal setting in our brand-new chamber series, Close Encounters.
In addition, the seasonal treat of Handel’s Messiah returns, and we celebrate 30 years of our legendary Sing-Along Messiah.
Join us to experience the passion and joy of Tafelmusik!

VISIONS & VOYAGES: CANADA 1663-1763New programme by Alison Mackay
The magnificent music in Tafelmusik’s repertoire was often composed for French and English monarchs, whose prosperity owed much to the Nations who had lived and worked in Canada for thousands of years. On the 150th anniversary of Confederation, we present a multi-dimensional programme designed by Alison Mackay, using images of maps and works of art, diplomatic dispatches, and orchestral works by Purcell, Lully, and Handel to explore a fascinating century in Canada’s history.
