About UsLittle Saints Early Childhood Development offers fourgrades for ages 2-6: Grade 000, Grade 00, Grade 0

and Grade R.

Here, we offer your child the very best holisticeducation to effectively prepare him/her ready for

Junior School.

With three schools on one campus, our dedicatedstaff ensures that the transitions between the various

grades and phases are effortless.

Our Early Childhood Development centre is builtaround CBC St John's four pillars of Faith, Family,

Excellence and Diversity and we ensure that this isseen in everything that we do.

OUR ETHOS AND DISCIPLINEThis is a standard the teachers, parents and LittleSaints strive to live by each day. It encourages usall to behave in such a way to demonstrate thedemocratic and inclusive nature of our school. Iturges us all to be the best we can be. We use the Restorative Justice System whendealing with disciplinary issues. TheLittle Saints are helped to look at why theybehaved in a certain way, wasthere a better way to behave, what impact didthe behaviour have on others andhow did others feel about it? This helps the LittleSaints to take responsibility for their actions andto think about how they could behavedifferently in the future.

What makes us unique?

OUR CURRICULUMWe offer a 4 year curriculum that has been carefully thought out bymerging the very best of the CAPS curriculum and the principles of

Self-Discovery learning. Because we are an independent school, westrive to go above and beyond what is required, giving them the very

best foundation for Junior School.

We believe children learn through play and experience. We providecreative education that allows our children to use imagination and

critical thinking to create new and meaningful ideas where they cantake risks, be independent and flexible, teaching them to find varioussolutions to a problem and to come up with out-of-the box solutions.

We encourage the children to express themselves freely using variousmedia, from water, paint and clay to box construction. We believe in theholistic development of a child and allowing him/her to find his/her ownway, within boundaries. The main Learning Areas are Literacy, Numeracy,

Perceptual Skills, Physical Development and Life Skills. We use books ofthe week to explore different topics relating to our children’s everyday

life and beyond. Assessments are done continuously throughout theyear based on the age of the child.

Our goal is not only to get your child ready for big school, but to grow a

confident little person, who knows the Lord and is able to cope with life’schallenges.

THE SWITCH UPThis is an interactive day where the LittleSaints rotate; with teachers presentingdifferent classes. It is a day filled with subjectsthat provide extra enrichment into ourcurriculum with fun and innovative classes.Our SWITCH UP classes include Make andBake, Music and Movement, Cooperativegames, Early Coding and Lego Robotics andMuscle Mania. Muscle Mania runs as an Extra-Mural on aThursday and Friday and is attended by theGrade 0s and Grade Rs. Lourdes Bruwer,occupational therapist from Jump Leap Fly,hosts it. Here, the children’s fine motor andgross motor skills needed for successfulhandwriting are nourished and strengthened.It is fantastic programme that puts all thecorrect muscle maps in place for the child tocut and write with confidence.

What makes us unique?

EXTRA MURALSWe host Internal and External Extra Murals for our Grades 00-R. Our

External Extra Murals include: Playball, Teddy Tennis and Muscle Maniawhich runs as part of The Switch Up. Our Internal Extra Murals are run

by our teachers, after school and incur no extra cost. Our Internal ExtraMurals include Little Melody Makers, Little Scientists and Little

Shakespeares.

Our 2-3 year olds can arrive any time from 07:00 andour daily programme starts at 08 30 and ends at 12:30.

A nutritional and tasty cooked lunch if chosenA nap Indoor and outdoor freeplay A light snack at 15:00 for full day children

Your child will be cared for by his/her class teacher andclass assistant from 07:30 - 15:00. From 15:00 - 18:00,he/she will be in the loving care of our aftercare staff. 

We also offer Holiday Care during school holidays.

Our Grade 00s and Grade 0s can arrive any time from 07:00 and ourdaily programme starts at 08:15 and ends at 12:30. Here, they will enjoy:

AFTERCARE We offer half-day and full-day care.Half-day runs from 12:30 - 15:00 and isincurs no cost. Full-day aftercare runs

from 15:00 - 18:00, at an additional fee.

We also offer Holiday Care during schoolholidays.

Our Grade Rs start their day at 08:00 and finish at 13:00. The programmebecomes slightly more formal to prepare them for Junior School and it
