5.2 METHODOLOGY

Little Bridge 1 Unit 5, Look at me, serves to introduce pupils to the body parts. A Communicative language teaching approach is used throughout the method where the four skills are integrated into both teaching and learning activities. Students learn to identify and name the parts of their bodies and body actions and, also, to describe themselves or other people. They practice conversation asking and saying belongings with the pronoun whose as well as describing items using the popular game “I spy”. Concepts such as numbers or days of the week are revised to stimulate previous knowledge. Class / on-line activities should be used to serve as a diagnostic assessment tools for teachers where they can observe students and determine their strengths and weaknesses in order to guide them towards specific formative reinforcement and extension activities where knowledge can be built.

8.2 METHODOLOGY

Little Bridge 1 Unit 8, I can speak English, serves as a revision unit and it reworks language introduced and practised in the preceding units. A Communicative language teaching approach is used throughout the method where the four skills are integrated into both teaching and learning activities. Students review the vocabulary learned in previous unit and demonstrate their knowledge doing a general quiz or activities related with the whole book. They practice conversation talking about themselves and learn how to ask and say where someone is going, reviewing the present continuous tense. Class / on-line activities should be used to serve as a diagnostic assessment tools for teachers where they can observe students and determine their strengths and weaknesses in order to guide them towards specific formative reinforcement and extension activities where knowledge can be built.
