Literacy (Ms. Serene Tan and Ms. Mohana Rajahmorguru)

Theme: 1. Dinosaurs 2. Space and planet This term, students will continue to strengthen their phonics sounds through phonics games and activities. Students will be learning phonics level 4, 5 and 6 which consists of the phonics sounds ai, j, oa, ie, ee, or, w, ng, v, 00, oo, y, x, ch, sh and th. To further enhance their language skills, students will be taught to understand and respond to texts through simple stories and group activities. Students will start reading high frequency words together with CVC (Consonant Vowel Consonants = cat) words. Students will be introduced to making short sentences using CVC words. They will start spelling this term.

Numeracy (Ms. Serene Tan and Ms. Mohana Rajahmorguru)

This term, students will learn about addition and subtraction. Students will learn addition and subtraction through object counting as it involves their senses which allows them to grasp the method of counting more effectively. Then they will move on to picture addition before finally the last stage will be number addition. Students will also learn about money and the importance of money in their daily life. A role play of a café will take place to allow them to practise addition and subtraction. Odd and even numbers will also be taught this term.

Understanding The World (Ms. Serene Tan and Ms. Mohana Rajahmorguru)

Students will study two main themes this term. In the theme ‘Dinosaur’ students will learn about extinction and what does extinction means. They will also be introduced to animals that are facing extinction soon. Students will be taught to categorise the dinosaurs according to their diet; herbivour, carnivour and omnivour. Students will learn about fossils and allow students to understand how humans learn so much about them. They will learn about different names of the Dinosaur and their characteristics. The second theme will be on ‘Space and Planets’, students will learn the names of all the planets and their characteristics. They will also learn about how the solar system works. Students will have a chance to learn about the history of people going into space.

Mandarin as a First Language (Ms Sim Jia Xin)

This term, the students will revise all the topics and words that they have learnt. The students will be focusing on speaking and writing. They will adapt a wide range of different of new vocab from textbook and also flashcard reading. They will learn to read the words and sentences by using the textbook and sing along. At the end of the lesson, the students can understand a short sentence and communicate better.

Mandarin as a Second Language (Ms Sim Jia Xin)

Drama (Ms Sharmila Kanagalingam)

Lessons will include a focus on the Environment and increasing awareness of multicultural stories. Storytelling will lead teaching of proper diction and tone in storytelling, including inflection. There will also be a range of drama games for students to develop their awareness of sound, movement and creativity and imagination.

Music (Ms Samantha Tam - Kindermusik)

This term, children will be encouraged to be more expressive in exploring their singing voices. They will be singing songs in a more accurate pitch, which begins with bitonic (two-tone melodies). Songs and games with call and response are perfect for beginner singers to learn to sing in pitch and to match pitch. Ensemble playing is also introduced this term, and lays the foundation for making music in a group setting.

Bahasa Malaysia (Mrs Sri Kamini Santhansamy)

This term, the students will revise all the syllable words that they have learnt last term. Then, they will be given ‘Ejaan’ or Spelling for the entire syllable words that they have learnt. This is to improvise their memory and writing skills. They will be learning Bahasa using simplified version themes according to the National Bahasa Standard of Curriculum in Malaysia. Students will learn how to read story flash card using three simple starter sentences for example ; “Buku. Buku Babu. Buku Babu biru.” Students will also take part in singing basic Bahasa songs as a part of their communication skills.

Computing (Mrs. Rukhsana Zubaid)

This term, students will learn to have better control in using the computer mouse. These are done through ‘Tux Paint’ software to help children to master mouse control. Students will explore different features of drawing such as inserting stamps, patterns and etc., to create a better art product. This term they will continue to log in the computer independently using the password provided by the teacher. Students will also be given access to play online education games to enhance their mouse control and hand-eye coordination.

Expressive Art and Design (Ms. Serene Tan and Ms. Mohana Rajahmorguru)

Coinciding with our theme Dinosaur, students will use play dough to form a model of dinosaurs. They will learn to use different materials to make different types of dinosaur to allow them to explore on texture. Students will have the opportunities to mix colours in order to get the correct colour for the dinosaur. As for space and planets, students will explore the solar system and make a model of the solar system. They will also use different materials to represent the objects in space. For example; aluminium foil to make a moon as it shines at night.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development (Ms. Serene Tan and Ms. Mohana Rajahmorguru)

This term, students will be taught about changes as they learn about Dinosaurs. They will also learn about the concept of past and present. Caring for the environment is the main focus for this term as they learn about ways to keep the Earth clean and healthy. Understanding the feelings of others will be enhanced through updates about things happening around the world. They will also learn about the importance of exercise to keep them healthy. Students will have opportunity to build characters such as diligence, patience and love through hands-on activity.

Physical Development (Mr. Vinod Khanna, Ms. Emily Tan, Mr Dennis Lee, Ms.Reena Singh)

During this term, students will be developing skills in the Foundation of Gym. Students will explore a range of basic Gymnastics components important for developing muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, balance and coordination. (COVID S.O.P) Unfortunately due to the Covid SOP we will have to do the modified range activities inside the classroom with proper distance and a safe environment.
