Birth date: March 19, 1996 Grade IV Noraina is 15 but she still in Grade IV. She could have been third year high school by now. Noraina’s parents earn Ph 3,000/month. Since her parents have no permanent income as a laborer and a housekeeper, it is very difficult for them to send their children to school. Noraina performs well in school but sometimes she misses classes because she helps her parents in the farm. She dreams to be a teacher someday but she knows that it would be very difficult to fulfill her dream considering their financial situation. Birth date: February 12, 1997 Grade V Jalal, a Maranao, is son of a laborer whose work is very irregular. He is one of the 5 children. Jalal hopes to finish with his studies and so he is very grateful to be one of the recipients WIMLER. Status: First Grading report: 80 Jalal s promoted to Grade VI. His final general average is 79.8% He needs more concentration in his studies.

Grade VI

Robelyn is 12 years old and one of the 5 siblings. Her father is sickly so her mother takes over his job from time to time as a cart-pusher in the market. They earn Ph 2,500 month.

This is the second year Robelyn receives financial support from WIMLER.

Robelyn graduated in Grade VI with general average of 82.8% It is almost sure that without external support that Rubelyn can continue high school. We met her mother last February who said that what worries her is the fact Rubelyn might not be able to study anymore. The father is still not able to work so mother continues to work as cart-pusher/cargador in the market.

Exequia is the second child of three children. Her father works as a salesman in Cotabato City but only earns a monthly income of Ph 3,000.

She is recommended for the scholarship because her mother is seriously ill. She behaves well in the class and very diligent in her studies.

Christian is very serious with his studies. He seldom misses his class.

Christine Joy’s father is a tricycle driver and her mother, a housekeeper. She is the second child of the four children. Because of their economic status, sometimes she cannot make quality outputs/projects because her family could hardly buy the school supplies she needs.

Sometimes she is absent from the class because she has to take care of her younger sister while her mother is earning for a living. She’s always the last to give whenever there’s a contribution in the class. She is also hesitant to join any extra -curricular activities because she knows her parents could not afford to provide.

Despite of those difficulties in life, she’s still doing well in school. Academically, she performs satisfactorily. She possesses good character, too.

Christine Joy finished Grade V with honors with general average of 84.4%. She improved remarkably during the second half of the school year.

Ana’s parents have difficulties sending their children to school since they only earn Ph 2,500 per month sometimes even lower. Her father is a laborer and the mother, a housekeeper. Sheila has a positive attitude towards her schooling. Sometimes she comes to school without a ball pen and paper. On weekends, she needs to work to help augment here parent’s income.

Bai Muraisa, a Maguindanaoan, should have been in high school by now. Her parents have no permanent work, during planting and harvesting season she is forced to join with her parents in the farm. She has a strong will to finish her education. She tries to excel in her studies. She is very responsible in doing assigned tasks; she believes that poverty is not a hindrance to success and like many young Filipinos, she hopes to work abroad.

Bai Muraisa finished Grade V with honors with a general average of 84.2%. She hopes to continue receiving educational support next school year.

Danny is one of the six (6) children. Danny Mar is such a cheerful and fun – loving child despite the fact that he is an orphan. He and his younger sister live with their maternal uncle. He would often volunteer himself to represent the class in the grade level competitions, and he would always try to give his best performance.

Desiree is very eager to go school. Despite the distance from their house to school, she seldom misses her classes. She goes to school by foot since her parents cannot provide her money to pay for her transportation. She performs well in her studies. Her teachers and classmate notice that she does not take snacks and she has no viand during lunch time.

During weekends, she does household chores with neighbors so that she earns a little money but she gives whatever she earns to her mother.

Sigfred finished Grade V with general average of 79.4% and promoted to Grade VI. His grade went down slightly in the second semester.

Grade VI

Patricia’s father who is a driver and the mother, a housekeeper, could hardly send their children to school. They live in her father’s sister house. Patricia is very interested to go to school even without pocket money most of the time. She wants to continue with her studies. An average pupil who values her education so much.

Patricia has improved considerably during the second semester and finally graduated Grade VI with general average of 83%

Arnel is 17 and should have graduated high school by this time. He is one of the 9 children. His mother is already dead and he lives with his father who earns his living by farming.

This is the second year, Arnel received school assistance.

Finally, at the age of 18 years old – 6 years behind – Arnel graduated Grade VI with general average of 83.8%. Arnel hopes to go to high school next school year but he needs support.

Randolf is the second child. His father works as a laborer tries his best to send his children in school but it is inadequate. Randolf is a diligent pupil but often worries of his school requirements since his parents have very limited income (Ph 3,000/month)

Randolf garnered 7th place in the

recently concluded Division Math Olympics. He also won 2

nd place during

the Division Children’s Science Interactive workshop, Science Investigatory, and Team applied Science. Randolf is a very intelligent boy. He graduated class salutatorian with general average of 93.65. He received the Best in Mathematics award.

The second child of the family, the father earns his living as a carpenter, while the mother is a housekeeper. His teacher recommended him for educational support because he is a very diligent pupil and parents are hard up in providing his school needs.

Reymark is promoted to Grade VI after passing the school year with general average of 80.8%, a big improvement compared to the previous semester.

Grade VI

Lanie is the only child and yet due to extreme poverty, her parents could hardly support her studies. Her father does farm work but income is very irregular. This is the second year that Lanie receives educational fund from WIMLER.

We know Lanie for two years and we are happy having supported her education. She graduated in Grade VI with general average of 86.4% with honors!

Grade VI

The eldest son, Carl’s needs are hardly meet by the mother who raised her two children alone by selling items in the market.

Despite the difficulties, Carl is determined to go to school. He often misses to submit school projects on time because his mother could not provide the school supplies.

Status:

First Grading period: 86.74 with honors

Karl is one of the brightest in the class. He finally graduated Grade VI with honors. He received 90.4%.

Grade VI

Eliza together with her four siblings is raised by their mother alone. They went to school with the other brother and sisters only in elementary level. One was able to finish high school but already stopped going to college due to financial difficulties. They live with their grandparents together with the other family members. Their house is made up of light materials where there is no electricity.

Elisha successfully finished her Grade V education with honors and her general was 85.6%. Elisha is an active member of Drum and Lyre Corps.

Cleo, 11, has no father anymore. He and his two siblings are taken care of by his mother who has no regular income. He is determined to finish with his studies despite all the difficulties.

Cleo is very active in sports activities as soccer player and dasher.

Lauro is the youngest of the four children. His father is a laborer earning Ph 1,500 month while his mother is a housekeeper. Due to financial difficulties, his parents have a hard time supporting his education.

Mae Ann is the youngest child among the seven children. Her father is a jeepney driver and her mother is a housewife. She never misses her class except when she is not feeling well.

Mae Ann is another pupil who graduated with honors. Although a difficult year because of hardships, Mae Ann got 89.8% general average and promoted to high school.

Ranel is one of the five children. His father has no permanent job. Sometimes he works as a driver, and sometimes he works in the market. His mother helps augment family income by doing laundry work.

First Year High School

Alvin is a very responsible pupil. At the age of 16, he is kuya (elder brother) and president of the class. He excels from first grading to fourth grading as the class first honors. He is also a STEP competitor in tool box making. He won first place in the district level competition. He graduated with the average of 87.6 with honors Alvin graduated this year and fortunately he found a sponsor for him.

Alvin did well in his class as first year student thanks to the support of A. Flugel in the Netherlands. When we met Alvin and his mother last February, they really asked for further assistance. He is very motivated and considering his age (19), he is actually four years behind. He stopped schooling when he was in elementary because of lack of funds.
