    title=List_of_mountain_ranges&action=edit).

    By height

    Asia has many of the highest mountain ranges in the world. These mountains form the boundary betweenthe Indian subcontinent and rest of Asia, lying to the north of the subcontinent and the south of the rest of

    Asia.

    Himalaya- Asia: India, China, Nepal, Pakistan, Bhutan highest point- Everest 8848 meters above

    sea level.

    Karakoram (part of Greater Himalayas)- Asia: Pakistan, India, China highest point- K2, 8611 meter

    above sea level.

    Hindu Kush (part of Greater Himalayas)- Asia: Afghanistan, Pakistan, India]) highest point- Tirich

    Mir, 7708 meters above sea level.

    Pamir (part of Greater Himalayas)- Asia: Tajikistan, China, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India (claim dueto Kashmir dispute) highest point- Ismail Samani Peak, 7495 meters above sea level.

    Tian Shan- Asia: China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyztan, India, Pakistan highest point- Jengish

    Chokusu, 7439 meters above sea level.

    Kunlun- Asia: China highest point- Kunlun Goddess, 7167 meters above sea level.

    These mountains were formed millions of years ago in the collision between the Indian Plate and EurasianPlate. The Indian Plate is still mobile and these mountain ranges continue to rise in elevation every year othese the Himalayas are rising quickest. The Kashmir region, to the north of the Indian subcontinent is the

    point of confluence of almost all these mountains, viz. Himalayas, Karakoram, Hindu Kush, Pamir and TiaShan. The Tibetan Plateau, divided between India and China is the region surrounded by all of thesemountains, viz. Himalayas all along its south, Karakoram and Hindu Kush on the south-west, Pamir to thewest, Tian Shan to the north-west and Kunlun to its north.
