Dear LIRR Riders, I’ve lived on Long Island all my life, so I know firsthand that Long Islanders have a strong tradition of taking on leadership roles in our local communities. In keeping with this tradition, we’ve launched a new campaign that celebrates all of those LIRR customers who likewise lead by example. We’re calling them LIRR Heroes. Their “super powers” are all those little actions that help keep our trains moving. So what do LIRR Heroes do? They keep the trains clean by using the trash cans on the platform. They use the overhead rack for their luggage, freeing up seats for other passengers. They use their cell phones sparingly on the train, either speaking softly or texting instead. And they keep the seats clean by keeping their feet on the floor. In other words, they do all the things you do to help get everyone to work and back home more quickly, and more comfortably, every single day. Dear LIRR Riders,

I’ve lived on Long Island all my life, so I know fi rsthand that Long Islanders have a strong tradition of taking on leadership roles in our local communities.
