Lion Containers (Offshore) Ltd is part of The Lion Containers Ltd Group; our offshore arm supplies and delivers DNV 2.7-1 certified specialised containers to the offshore oil and gas industry. Our containers are built to withstand the rigours presented to them at sea, the challenges of offshore installations, and avoid failure even when faced with extreme conditions. We are also able to offer containers to DNV 2.7-3; items such as temporary offices and control rooms intended for offshore use which do not fall into the standard DNV 2.7-1 for containers.

DNV 2.7-1 Offshore Container Features

As well as our specialist DNV containers, Lion Containers (Offshore) Ltd are also able to supply bespoke DNV products to individual or type approved customer drawings. All of our new and used DNV 2.7-1 equipment is supplied with certified slings and shackles as standard and also conform to BS/EN 12079. Many of our DNV containers are provided with cargo door nets and door tie back retainers. Many are also stackable and fitted with forklift pockets for easy accessibility and movability whilst saving on yard space. Internal lashing points provide the opportunity for excellent, secure cargo stowage. The majority of our DNV Containers are fitted with an ISO block/Pad Eye combination to allow easy stacking with ISO standard locks, as they are built to CSC standard they are also able to be stacked along with regular ISO containers on board cargo vessels.

CONTAINER CAD SERVICE

Our container CAD drawings will give a full understanding of what your unit will contain, the layout and how it will look. All of our CAD drawings are also supplied with a rendered drawing showing your unit in your required colour. Our CAD drawings will show the dimensions of the container including the top, bottom, sidewalls and both ends. For a small cost our sales team can organise a rendered drawing for you to your bespoke specification, all we need is a brief sketch and description of the CAD drawing you require with dimensions.

The dimensions given are for reference only, they represent the sizes, weights, colours and specifications of our most common off-shore containers. It is quite common for us to use a different manufacturer for standard equipment and therefore all dimensions, colours, weights and sizes can change quite considerably.

We are able to supply 10ft DNV/ISO offshore containers to the latest standard of DNV 2.7-1 / BS/EN 12079 to suit the global market. These robust units are available either as standard or custom built equipment. Our custom built units are manufactured within the UK at our facility in Aberdeen, please see our offshore modifications page for further details of what options are available. As standard these units are supplied with the relevant certified slings.

We are able to supply 20ft DNV/ISO offshore containers which are built to withstand the rigours presented to them at sea. As well as being certified to the latest DNV 2.7-1 standard they are also CSC certified by Lloyd’s Register. Like the 10ft containers, our 20ft containers can and have been custom built to suit our clients bespoke requirements. The 20ft containers are commonly used for dry good storage and transportation however we can also convert these units into offshore workshops or labs. Slings and shackles will be supplied as standard.

Should a different door opening (swinging or removable sides), more internal tie-down points or bespoke paint colour be required, we will modify or manufacture the units in our depot. One of our most popular units is the mini DNV cargo carrying unit. These small units are extremely strong and can be used for a variety of applications. As with all of our DNV containers, they are certified to the latest standard of DNV 2.7-1 / BS/EN 12079. These units are complete with slings and shackles provided to the required standards and relevant tie down points are provided to secure your goods for transportation. We can provide cargo nets if required along with further modifications should this unit be custom built.

Our Mud Skips/ Cutting Bins provide an efficient and safe way to transport drilling waste from your site to a site for treatment or disposal. These units are designed and manufactured to DNV2.7-1 / BS/EN 12079 and complete with certified slings and shackles. The rigid construction of these units prioritises safety at all times, even when stacked two high the sling on the upper skip is easily accessible. The large lid is light weight to ensure easy lifting and it has the ability to fill the unit to maximum.

Lion Containers (Offshore) Ltd manufacture new workshops and laboratories that are certified to the latest DNV requirement, in accordance with your specification and current regulations. The workshops and labs are all built to our clients own bespoke requirements meaning we can facilitate any industry type and ensure that we are providing a safe and comfortable fit for purpose working environment. We can incorporate the use of A60 fire rated equipment and materials and Ex rated or Zone 1 /2 rated electrical fittings and appliances. Internally the units can be fitted with workbenches, cages shelving, durbar anti-slip flooring, internal lining and insulation and customers own electrical requirements. Externally we can provide A60 escape hatches, fire exit doors and windows. Our workshops and Laboratories are all custom made to our customers own requirement meaning you are able to specify the size/weights required. We will provide you with all the relevant certification, slings and shackles to enable full, safe use of your units.

Lion Containers (Offshore) Ltd are able to supply offshore refrigerated containers to DNV 2.7-1 and BS/EN 12079. These units are specially designed for use on offshore platforms, vessels and oil rigs. Like our standard offshore containers our refrigerated offshore units are supplied with certified lifting gear. The following offshore refrigerated containers are available, if your requirement is not listed please contact us:

CASE STUDY #1

We received an enquiry from an underwater company regarding a 20ft 2.7-1 DNV container, which should be A60 Rated. After further discussions about the product and the budget they had, they decided to have a 10ft 2.7-1 DNV standard container. The specification for the unit was:

• 10ft (L) x 8ft (W) x 8.6ft (H) new DNV 2.7-1 container: supplied fully slung, tested and certified for offshore.

• IP Rated Electrics (Splash & Dust Proof): 1 x external connection (plug & pay style), 1 x 4ft twin fluorescent light fitting, 1 x double pole light switch, 1 x isolator/junction box and all cables and glands to suit.

• Shelving bays with mesh caged doors along 10ft sides: 3 tier x 2 bay; 2,400 m x 550 x full height with 50mm box section centres and legs.

• Repainted RAL9010 pure white.

After the specification was confirmed and the order placed, we started the conversions in our Aberdeen depot. Only 6 weeks later the unit was fully converted and ready to be signed off to be delivered to the end location in Middlesbrough.

CASE STUDY #2

We provided a supplier of specialist equipment to the oil and gas industry with 4 x 20ft DNV offshore containers. These containers needed to be complete with shelving, electrics and decaled unit/fleet numbers. The full specification is shown below:

• 6050mm x 2438mm x 2506mm containers.

• Gross weight 11,500Kg, Tare (approx 4000 kg), SWL (approx 7500kg).

• Containers designed, manufactured, tested and certified to DNV2.7-1 offshore standard / EN12079.

• Certified and supplied with full certificates.

• Supplied fully slung, tested and certified for off-shore use. Units supplied with full ‘as built’ document package.

• 3 tier shelving bolted along left and right hand side walls, and painted to same spec as container.

• Shelving manufactured from 3mm mild steel plate folded front & back with a 50mm lip, the support legs / bracers were 50 x 50 x 4mm box section, all joints fillet welded then cleaned.

• Containers painted to RAL5010. Units complete with fork pockets.

• Brackets for electrics and shoe box entry.

• Zone II electrics supplied and fitted.

• Numbers decalled on roof (300mm) and on sides.

CASE STUDY #3

We received an enquiry from a nationwide buying company who required a custom built 20ft long x 8ft wide x 8ft 6” high, new offshore container built to DNV 2.7-1 standard (LLoyds approved), for their customer in Aberdeen. The container had the following bespoke work carried out:

• Supplied fully slung, tested and certified for offshore use with full “as built” document package.

• Repainted blue RAL5010 with four corner castings to bottom only, and four pad-eyes to top corners.

• Two 4ft side access doors were installed to one 20ft panel, with no requirement for cargo doors on either of the 8ft ends.

• A lifting beam was manufactured and installed to the centre of the unit, with a 250kg capacity complete with manual chain block.

• Two sets of 3 tier, 2 bay, 2000mm x 550mm x full container height shelving bays were manufactured and installed. This included 50mm box section legs and centres.

• Mesh caged doors were manufactured and installed to the front of the shelving.
