Are these the world's most expensive fingers? Fastest violin player insures his hands for £3million

If you held the world record for being the fastest violin player then you'd want to make sure your fingers were worth a fortune. Which is exactly what three-times record holder Ben Lee did as he insured his lightning fingers for a cool £3million. Ben, one half of rock violin duo Fuse, is the first person to hold the Guinness World Records for the 'Fastest Violinist In The World' in both the electric and acoustic categories.

Magic fingers: Ben Lee, the world's fastest violin player, has insure his hands and fingers for £3million. He was forced to insure his fingers after an road accident in 2009 damaged his right hand and wrist. As he recovered, he was inspired and challenged by his Fuse bandmate Linzi Stoppard, daughter-in-law of actor Tom, to break the world record by playing the classic Flight of the Bumblebee.

He appeared on The Alan Titchmarsh Show on UK TV to make the attempt, missing out by 3 notes.

The world's most expensive hands: Ben holds the record for playing Flight of the Bumblebee in 58.515 seconds. But a week later, at the Rogue Studios in London, he broke the record and set a time of 64.21 seconds and a month later he broke it again when he played it in 58.515 seconds. He became the first person in history to break the 'magic-minute' barrier which was widely considered by many experts to be almost impossible. He now performs his feat all over the world performing with Fuse, who themselves set a world record last year when they played on their very own Swarovski Crystal violins.

Too sexy to be a violinist! Linzi Stoppard, seen here at the London premiere of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier Spy, is married to Will Stoppard, son of actor Tom They are the most expensive electric violins ever made and are worth over £1million each. The duo, who are also Ambassadors for The Prince's Trust, are currently in the studio writing and recording tracks for the movie KTD 2020, the first feature film from Fairbanks Productions.

Violin bling: Linzi and Ben show off their Swarovski crystal covered instruments worth £1m each. Headed up by Dominic Fairbanks, the great grandson of Douglas Fairbanks, Linzi and Ben made a great first impression when he saw them perform at a charity event. Linzi said: 'We are thrilled to be asked to record the soundtrack for Dominic and the studio, it is a honour to be working with him. We just hit it off, he wanted a futuristic sound and image and that is what FUSE specialise in - pushing the boundaries. We can't wait.'
