Construction of Link Road in Village Darra Union Council Salai Patti District Malakand, Malakand

Village Darra is located at distance of two hours’ drive from District Headquarter Batkhela in Malakand

district of Malakand Division. The area falls under the jurisdiction of union council Selai Pattai and is

home to 68 households. Natives of the village Darra, when came to know about PEACE (Program for

Economic Advancement and Community Empowerment) project implemented by SRSP in one of their

adjacent village they got united and formed 3 COs and then federated into a VO (Village Organization)

“Rokhana Laar” in order get their basic problems solved.

In April 2013, the members of Village Organization (VO) requested SRSP for construction of link road to

their village. A small portion of the road was already constructed by a non-government organization few

years back but it was serving as a pedestrian road. In Oct 2013, construction work on this link road was

initiated and within a record time of 6 months village Darra was connected to main public transport road

providing the local communities with a round the year farm to market access road.. The total cost

incurred on this project was 3,065,300 PKR in which EU contributed 2,731,900 PKR while community

share was 333,400 PKR.
