PATTERNS• Patterns in the world around us are symmetric. Can you see the

line or lines of symmetry in these patterns?

Sometimes we are asked to make a picture symmetrical and we are

given a line of symmetry where we have to imagine a mirror is being

placed.

This is the line of symmetry or

line of reflection. It can be

shown in lots of different ways

but usually is demarcated as a

dashed line.

To make the picture

symmetrical we need to

imagine placing a mirror on

this line or folding the picture

along it and printing the

pattern on the other side.

Sometimes we are asked to make a picture symmetrical and we are

given a line of symmetry where we have to imagine a mirror is being

placed.
