Study Abroad Opportunity Montego Bay, Jamaica 2013 & 2014 2013 & 2014 Participated in a two-week learning experience in Montego Bay, Jamaica in In May of 2013 and 2014. This experience included working with seven other students and supervisors at a school for the deaf as well as a school for children with autism. This opportunity provided therapeutic experience with language stimulation and a variety of other clinical skills. Duties include being in charge of the Language Environment Analysis (LENA) system, a small device on which research is being conducted, assisting in organizing the Stuttering U summer camp and the process of speech-language pathology graduate admissions. Century Distributors-Chris Burnett, Gallipolis, OH 2011Called individuals within the community to set up appointments for my boss to perform home shows to sell Rainbow Sweepers. Community Service Advisor-For His Glory 4-H Club, Gallipolis, OH 2011-2016 Advise the younger kids (cloverbuds) within a 4-H club, which by promoting community involvement by completing educational field trips, projects, and community service projects. These service projects completed for the community consist of donating pet food to a local animal shelter, donating canned goods to a local food bank, donating candy and Easter eggs to a local special education school for their annual Easter Egg hunt, donating toys for young kids around Christmas time for the toy drive a local bank was hosting, and Relay for Life. 4-H meetings are held once a month for one hour.

Stuttering U-Marshall University, Huntington, WV 2014-2016 2014-2015 Organize and coordinate activities both before and during a summer camp hosted by Marshall University that is designed for children who stutter and their families. Youth Worker-First Baptist Church, Gallipolis, OH 2010-2016 2010-2015 Volunteer by working in the nursery one Sunday night a month, teaching the 4 & 5 year old class twelve Sundays a year, working in Vacation Bible School 1 week every year, and serve as a leader in the Awana program for kindergarten through second graders on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00.

Literacy Instructor-St. John’s Literacy Camp, Huntington, WV 2015 2015 Assisted as a co-instructor in the “Phonics” room at a summer camp designed to improve literacy skills where lesson plans with activities were used to enhance phonological awareness in school-aged children who have been identified to struggle with reading and writing. NSSLHA Member-Marshall University, Huntington, WV 2010-2015 2010-2015 Contributed in various social activities with fellow students in Communication Disorders as well as community service projects within the National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association. Gallia County Snack Pack Program, Gallipolis, OH 2010-2014 2010-2014 Volunteered to fill backpacks with food for the underprivileged kids in the school system once a month during the school year through the Gallia County Snack Pack Program. Gamma Beta Phi Member-Marshall University, Huntington, WV 2011-2014 Participated in multiple service projects that benefit the community through Gamma Beta Phi. This organization is an excellent way to be involved with the university. Volunteer-Holzer Clinic, Gallipolis, OH 2008-2011 Volunteered under the leadership of Dawn Halstead, Director of Volunteer Services, at Holzer Clinic working four hours a day two days a week. Experiences included stocking cabinets with linens and medical supplies, refilling patient’s water, serving food, and encouraging the patients on the floors of ambulatory surgery and rehabilitation.
