Energy Saving Tips

Holiday Decorations

It’s that time of year again to gear up for a happy holiday season. While you get ready to pull out your tinsel and toolbox, please remember the Lincoln guidelines for holiday

décor. Holiday lights can be on display between the hours of 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM from October 21st until the second week in January. After the approved time period for holiday décor has passed, all lighting should be removed and stored properly.

Please keep the following guidelines in mind when spreading holiday cheer with lights and decoration:

• To ensure everyone’s safety, please avoid overloading circuits and/or overusing extension cords.

• Before you pull out the ladder, remember that decorations on the roof or above the first floor roofline are not allowed.

• Lighting should be turned off when no one is home. • All lights and decorations need to avoid damage to the home.

For example, nails/screws/tacks should not be used – please use gutter clips or a similar clip device to affix exterior lighting.

• You are welcome to decorate your front shrubbery but lawns need to remain clear for normal maintenance.

Lincoln and the Community Services Team wish you a very happy holiday season!

Would you like to lower your monthly energy usage? Keep these energy saving tips in mind:

• Replace your old holiday lights with Light-Emitting Diode (LED) light strings. Although they cost more initially, LEDs use a fraction of the energy of traditional holiday lights and they last up to 20 years.

• Plug your indoor and outdoor lighting displays into a timer set to run during the earlier evening hours. Per housing guidelines, holiday lights are authorized for use between the hours of 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM from Thanksgiving Day until the second weekend in January.

• Rather than adding more lights to your tree, try enhancing the existing lighting with tinsel, mirrored ornaments and other reflective items.

Holiday Tree DisposalPlease place your holiday tree next to the trash cans. Trees will be picked up on regular trash days, up to two weeks after Christmas. If you dispose of your tree after two weeks, please take it to your local recycling center. To find the recycling center near you please visit www.earth911.com and enter your zip code.

Issue ResolutionFor Residents

The following should assist you with resolution of an issue should something occur at your home that causes you dissatisfaction with Lincoln Military Housing:

1. The first step is to contact your District Office and relay the issue to them and give them the opportunity to resolve it.

2. If the issue is not resolved to your satisfaction contact the District Office again and ask to speak to the District Manager. In almost every case the District Manager can solve the issue.

3. If the issue is still not solved after speaking to the District Manager call the Lincoln General Management Office (GMO) at 858-874-8100 and ask to speak to the Regional Property Manager for your specific District.

4. In the unlikely event the Regional Property Manager cannot satisfy your request contact the GMO again and ask for the Regional Vice President of Lincoln Military Housing.

5. At this point if the issue still remains, you will need to contact a Navy Supervisor at the Housing Office at Naval Base San Diego. 619-556-8443, dial prompt 6, followed by a second prompt 6, and ask to speak with a Housing Supervisor.
