RHINOBOND PRODUCTIVITYAn experienced operator can weld five plates per minute or 300 plates per hour, and that’s just with one RhinoBond tool. With fewer seams to weld, RhinoBond is an even more efficient option.

COMPATIBIL ITYRhinoBond is compatible with polyiso-cyanurate, DensDeck® and Securock® as well as any insulation that will not melt by the induction welding process. Induction welding should not be used directly over extruded polystyrene, EPS or foil faced insulation boards.

FASTENERS & PLATESThe RhinoBond system includes 3-inch round specially coated plates, sold in pails of 500. Plates are available for TPO and PVC mem-branes. RhinoBond plates can be installed with several OMG fasteners and meet FM 4470 criteria for corrosion resistance.

INDUCTION WELDING TOOLThe RhinoBond tool is lightweight, adjustable, and easy to use and handle. It operates on standard 110 volt power sources and typically draws 1,300 watts. A 5,000 watt generator in good condition with two 20A GFCI-protected circuits will run two tools.

The RhinoBond System is available through many roofing system manufacturers. RhinoBond tools are available exclusively through OMG Roofing Products’ network of roofing distributors. For additional information, please call 800.633.3800.

The RhinoBond metal retrofit installation is a three-step process:

Fill the flutes with loose laid insulation.

Secure a cover board to the purlins with fasteners and round RhinoBond Plates for membrane attachment.

Additional non-RhinoBond insulationfasteners may be required per FM guidelines, as illustrated by the square plates shown in the photo at right.

After the membrane is installed, weld each plate using the RhinoBond tool.

horizontally,�with�an�error�rate�of�no�greater�than�3%�in�any�circumstances.��In�testing�the�SKYNET,�weights�were�used�far�in�excess�of�the�OSHA�requirements�(200�lbs.)�In�the�majority�of�tests,�the�weights�used�were�more�than�50%�greater�than�the�OSHA�standards.�The�scale�was�“zeroed”�before�testing�and�confirmed�“zeroed”�before�each�test.�

1926.502(i)�"Covers."�Covers�for�holes�in�floors,�roofs,�and�other�walking/working�surfaces�shall�meet�the�following�requirements:�

Heat Testing

To�test�the�effects�of�heat�and�direct�flame�on�the�SKYNET�netting,�a�3/8”�steel�piece�of�plate�was�heated�to�the�below�temperatures�and�placed�on�a�suspended�net.��

Here�are�the�results:�

�� 500�degrees:��Slight�discoloration;�material�holds.�

�� 550�degrees:��Slow�melt�through;�material�holds�30�sec.�

�� 600�degrees:��Fast�melt;�10�sec�hold.�

�

With�3,600�degree�direct�flame�applied,�material�will�burn�and�shrivel.�With�direct�heat�applied�(no�flame)�material�will�distort,�but�does�not�catch�fire.�
