Mrs. Nancy Bersch and Miss Martha Tibbs are two of the most useful people on our campus. Mrs.Bersch is secretary to President Raymond Dooley and Miss Tibbs is secretary to C» A. Balof , busi-
ness manager."Nancy" and "Martha" as they are known to their student friends are in charge of the office du-
t ies
.
Due to the illness of Dean Pooley, Mrs. David Stevenson became the school's librarian second se-mester.
Acting as student librarians under Mrs. Stevenson were Eugene Yates, Doris Jackson, Mary Hoffman, and Harold Hayes.
Do you remember a cold morning when you went running into A.B. or U.H. and curled beside one ofthe big radiators, thanking God that you were finally able to find a warm place? Well, you canthank the Almighty, but please don't forget to thank our janitors, too. They are the ones who keepthe furnaces going during the winter and mow the campus in the spring and summer, lliey do a lot of
little things for all of us and I am sure all of us appreciate them. So let's get together and shouta big thanks to all of them.
Everyday, everybody, at the same time starts running in the same direction. To some people comingfrom New York, this reminds them of the 6 p.m. subway rush. That's not the case here.... it's chowtime at the dining hall! ! ! This is the place where we get together three times a day for food and
gossip, this is the place where the Camel salesman offers cigarettes to the "Lucky" fans.
Our chapel service, which is held every Friday morning, is led by students. Each week it is up to
a different student to see that there is a speaker, soloist, and plan the entire program. They are
assisted by the Rev. J. T. Burns.Students who have led chapel throughout the year: Carroll Besgrove, Connie Broshow, Boyd Brown,
Donna Harmsen, Doris Jackson, Mary Jo Wylder, and Eleanor Berner.

ARTA series of subjects dealing with college life was one of the outstanding projects of this
year's art class. IVbch work was done in water technique, color harmony, and emotional use of
color
.
The Art Association of Lincoln is closely connected with L.C. and has had on display through-
out the year various art exhibits. The exhibit of t he " c 1 ass ics" of L.C. students was shownduring the month of May.

DRAMA"The Lincoln College Community Players" official title adopted by the theatre group became
quite familiar in the 1949-50 season.Three main productions. ..." Mr . Pim Passes By Laura'.' ... and " The Miser "... .were sched-
uled and produced with great success. Augmenting the group's work were one act plays, presented
here and in neighboring communities.
A theatre workshop set up in the back of the biology science building was the scene of activ-
ity throughout the year. The shop is new and presented itself as one of the greatest assets to
the organisation.Radio entered the scene of this year's drama the last part of the second semester. A special
class in radio, the music department, and students on campus produced a series of radio pro-
grams, which were heard each Saturday.r i i

MUSICFebruary 10, 1950 the choral society of Lincoln College made
its first appearance as the second event in the entertainment
series of the school. Tlie program was in conjunction with "The
Opera Jesters" of Wesleyan University.
A vesper program March 5, 1950, at the Methodist Church was
the second performance of the group.
The 49-50 choir has been more active than those of previous
years. They organized with Virginia Fort as president, Marcia
Moore, secretary, and Jim Congabel, treasurer. A very success-
ful caroling party with lunch at the Hanger residence after-
ward proved to be most interesting.A Community Choir was formed at the College immediately after
Christmas. It has proved itself to be one of the finest organi-
zations in Lincoln and a credit to the college. This group did
much work in the college radio activities also.
STUDENT COUNCILStudent council election-time means fun for all on the campus. It is the time when cars, loaded
with stiodents, roll slowly through the streets. Every afternoon during the campaign students ring
bells and make all kinds of noise trying to persuade the rest of the students to vote for their
candidates. The result of this year's electipn: Lynn Johnson, president, vice-president; Douglas Layman,
secretary; Bernie Linnig, treasurer; Wade Clikeman, sophomore class president; Paul Roley, jour-
nalism representative; Max Scott, freshman class president; Bob Van Horn, social committee chair-
man. Clarence A. Sims is the council's faculty advisor.

OUR VICTORIOUS LYNX SQUAD"The best team in the conference" were the words on the lips of many basketball fans when they
first saw the purple and white clad Lynx take the floor. Right they were, as shown by the eight
won and two lost record of the Lynx. The most feared team in the conference lived up to its rat-
ing and came out tied for first place in Illinois-Missouri Junior College Conference with Cen-
tralia Junior College. As the coach, Vic Baumgartner, put it, "They were a fine bunch of boys,
who seemed to rise and meet every occasion, no matter how tough or hard it was."

This is strictly for boys.... all the men students of Lincoln College, whether they live in the
famous barracks or not .... there . isn' t a man on the campus who hasn't for one reason or anotherbeen in the "Nien's Dormitory". Just everybody has seen that our barracks are simple, clean, and
homey.... one has fun there and one can always find somebody who is willing to listen to a lew
troubles or go out for a little excitement. This is the fifth year the barracks have been in operation on the campus. One of the buildings
has only single rooms, the other three are divided into apartments. Each apartment is composed
of two rooms, a living-room-kitchen and a bathroom and sleeping rooms.
We hear our echoes come back from the campus trees. ... leaves
green. ... leaves falling. .. .whisper memories of September....December. .. .March. .. .we hear echoes from the walls ... .voices
