South-airport apartment is the public housing built in the 1970s. The military airport set in Japanese-Occupied Period was rebuilt into public housing by national government. Due to the population, the south airport night market developed increasingly. This community gathered reloca-tion apparent which was on the margin of society, dealing with the relocation spaces with small rooms. But with the deficit of space, peccant building merged and now It has become the slum of Taipei.

PART 1

The other dimension

From the imagination and purity of elementary school student, we put the experience of space in the south airport and to create a Heterotopia space. With the basis of behavior, we divide the simplicity of space, deriving another floating experience of space and start the game.

The place/secret base under the slideCrunched in the corner of South airport, it has become ambiguous and vague because of the time, with the fantastic feature of slow transition.

ready to fly at any time.

Liangtian Temple is a private temple constructed in 1977. The main goddess of cult is Ma Zu. It is located on the top of a four-storey

rental mansion, creating a distinctive worship space but now less known to public.

The four buildings were constructed by a private project in the 1970’s. The corridors are connected. There are some stores in the 1st floor and the other stories are for residence. One of them was

once a hotel but now most of them are empty now.

A traditional market situated at Mingsian st. of Banciao city. Stretching along the road to the resident area of Jioju Li. It’s

The Pantheon in Jiuru village of Banciao was LiangTian Temple formerly. The unused apartment nearby the tra-ditional market was Tiancheng hotel where received the passing visitors. For the Taipei county people, the city is always full of passing visitors, they bring their ancestors to this place but move out with the time passing by. The new Taipei City is changing violently, the buildings and the overpasses separate people’s home.

The program is: New Taipei Pantheon is the Taiwan traditional religion center, it receives all of the gods and keeps the circumstance of hotel, providing the long-term, short-term and permanent stay. The arrangement is according to the level of the gods, and we designed the processing of believers and other programs. The project is about the urban renewal of religion, absurd, but reacts the social phenomenon of this new munici-pality. Maybe the way of cult will change with the New Taipei City.

Developing solution develops the places with memory. Time is divided into a two-layer dimension. One is the ambiguous present; another is symbolic eternity filled with transcendence. Thoughts lie In between the layers, measuring and re-posi-tioning each other.

The distance between us.Exhibition projection2011

By the images reflected by the physical world, the negative records the time when the light deviates, overlapping different situations of time. Because the traces record the space, there comes the events and structure. One lies for the physical object, one lies for pure consciousness. The image may be divided with the Interlace of multiple times, an overlapping shadow effect by double exposure. It connects a real-surreal relationship, and builds an imaginary distance.

Page 51: Lin Tan-Hua’s Portfolio

51

Page 52: Lin Tan-Hua’s Portfolio

Overlapping three interfaces with different angles, lights come from three directions. The transpar-ent tracks of light build invisible shadow, and the invisible shadow builds the invisible places. Shadow overlaps in the wall, and the ink erodes out of the wall, trying to seal the permanent penetration.

Page 53: Lin Tan-Hua’s Portfolio

As the effect of a mirror, the influence of absence or oblivion and the existing or spoken events shines upon each other, a metaphor of distance emerges.

Page 54: Lin Tan-Hua’s Portfolio

Distance is something to do with the lack of the tactile integration , the lager the distance is, the larger the lack is.

Page 55: Lin Tan-Hua’s Portfolio

To transfer the frame size of one’s hand into the criteria of identifying the object.Re-measure and re-locate the body measures form the standing place, connecting the relationship between the space and emotion and to translate it Into the text of the theater of space.
