IntroductionLimehouse Books is an independent publisher of quality fiction and non-fiction. Founded in October 2009 – originally under the name Glasshouse Books – we have grown to publish ten print titles, with two more to come in 2013.

Uniquely we commission every title we publish and obtain World English Language rights in both print and digital. Our aim is to be a small, focussed publishing house with a global reach.

Over the next few pages you will see an eclectic list of titles, all of them with one unifying characteristic:

Books that are beautifully designed and produced for me, you, everyone.

Briony Hatch by Ginny & Penelope Skinner

Briony Hatch hates reality. She prefers the fantasy world of her favourite novels: The Starling Black Adventures, in which ghosts are real and you can cast magic spells to defeat your enemies.

In her real life, Briony’s parents are getting divorced and her friends are preoccupied by losing weight and shagging boys. Briony has tried all Starling Black’s magic spells in her bedroom but they don’t seem to be working. Her mother wants her to grow up, get her head out of those books and pack – they’re leaving Dad and moving into a bungalow the other side of town. Worst of all, Briony has almost finished the last ever Starling Black novel; life will soon have no meaning at all.

But Briony is about to learn that fantasy and reality aren’t always so easy to distinguish, and life doesn’t have to be dull just because you’re getting older.

Japan. Land of the rising sun, technical excellence, big boobs.

When Chester La Rochelle arrived in Japan with a TEFL book in hand and a dream in his heart, he had no idea he would end up in a hick town without a Starbucks. The school he has been assigned to is dark and decrepit, his co-workers borderline sociopaths, and the company he’s working for a cruel money-making monolith. Yet Chester finds happiness and falls for a Filipino hostess called Maria.

His idyll does not last for long after a run-in with his arch nemesis: Genjo, a three-year-old with a penchant for ankle biting. Chester soon finds himself trapped in a Kafka-esque nightmare where he must make the right kind of apology to Genjo’s parents. Saying sorry really is the hardest word.

The No Salaryman is a comedy for anyone who has travelled to a far-flung place and discovered that the best way to learn is to teach.

The course of true love never did run straight . . .

Evie Day has never wanted a boyfriend – she’s gay, out and proud, and as far as she’s concerned, her life is perfect that way. But when her girlfriend leaves her for a leggy blonde, everything changes – her flat, her friends, her future – and she finds herself having feelings for an old friend, who just happens to be a man. To say that things aren’t turning out the way she planned is an understatement. With her best friend Jamie’s Big Fat Gay Wedding looming on the horizon, Evie struggles to choose between her ex, her old friend, a new best friend in the form of a beautiful, chaotic burlesque artist, and a grumpy but distracting new flatmate.

All she wants to do is find the One, but for Evie, thinking straight never did come naturally . . .

Maine Hudson has a high tolerance for pharmaceuticals and a low tolerance for everything and everyone else. This includes his Greek parents, who bankroll his glorious isolation in London. This includes his career as a consultant, his clients, his boss, the majority of his colleagues and people he sees on the way to work. This includes the dumb model boyfriend of the American girl that he has decided to fall in love with.

This includes her also.

When Maine fails to obliterate himself through drug overdoses, the obsessive changing of his legal name and half-hearted thoughts of suicide, it falls to his central nervous system to pick up the challenge of trying to kill him off.

Can Maine survive with his lack of values intact?
