For my media coursework I have created amusic and fashion magazine, i decided toincorporate fashion as I thought it would

make it a bit different and give it somethingmore. I focused on various real well knownartists as some kind of stimulus, these wereElisa Doolittle, Katy Perry, Paloma Faith. Icreated a front cover for the magazine, acontents page and a double page spread. Iworked alone throughout this project and

believe what I have created has beensuccessful in relation to how I planned it tobe.

My genre of magazine is music fashion, it focuses mainly onmusic but with different elements of fashion. It is created for

females but could also be for males who had interest inmusic fashion. It was vital that I created it to be as realisticas possible for this reason I did much research into differentexisting magazines to help me create my own. Incorporatingfashion into my genre was successful and worked well, it

gave the magazine a larger potential audience which intheory would be better for money making. I believe my ideasworked effectively, this is represented through my audiencefeedback.

My front page immediately addresses the factthat the magazine also focuses on fashion, this ismade noticeable through the style of clothingused in the model. As well as this some of the

captions on the front cover focus on fashion anddraw the reader in and make them want to lookinside and read more, it is vital that the magazinefront cover is interesting to catch the buyers eyeas soon as they see it. I also tried to make mydouble page spread interesting by using one ofthe most interesting quotes from the interviewagain to catch the readers and make them think I want to go on and read more, the quote I used

was, music is my life, it always has been thiswould make the reader want to find out moreabout the artists history and also find out moreabout them. The colours and pictures used alsoneed to be interesting and eye catching therefor Ihave used large fun pictures and bright eyecatching colours such as pinks, greens, blues.

For my music magazine I have represent music stars and celebrities. I have tried to createan artist similar image wise to Elisa Doolittle and Katy Perry as they are both successfulartists. To do this I had to think a lot about the image. I researched into both of my chosenartists styles and looked at different images of them to try and make my artist slightly

similar. It was essential to ensure that my artist looked the best on the front cover imageto make the eye catching and make people want to buy it. I also had to buy variousmagazines and read different celebrity interviews to make my narrative interesting, itwas key to make sure that my text was interesting so the reader would possibly buy themagazine to read it.Much research was needed to ensure that it represented that groupof people well, here are some of the images I chose that I wanted mine to be similar to.

For my target audience I have chosen females aged 16-25, thereason for this is because I think has potential it is a largerange. I have created my target audience by using GRASS,this helps me to define my audience properly. Gender-female Race- white Age- 16-25 Social economic status Working class. The reason I have chosen this particulartarget audience is that I think that this age range of peoplewould be most interested in music fashion and femalesespecially, also I think that younger people are more likely to

purchase them as they find most interest in these types ofthings.

When creating something that will be available forpurchase it is essential that all elements are covered tomake the product its best.

How did you attract and address your

audience.

To try and make my magazine the best it could be and asrealistic as possible it was essential for me that I wasaddressing all the main elements of a real life magazine,therefore I had to ensure that I was using bright colors, avariation of colors is needed to set the mood and alsohighlight the type of artist that the magazine focuses on.

I also had to ensure that I was using bold writing, italicsand different fonts, it Was essential to do this so that thefront cover drew attention to potential buyers and madeit eye catching and stand out so that people wouldwant to buy it. The fashion element was also veryimportant as I had to ensure that I was making my artistlook at her best for my cover so that people would lookat it and immediately want to read about her.

Whilst creating my project I have had to usemany different technologies. One of themain things I have had to use is a APPLEMAC computer, this was new to me as I had

not done this before and I found it quite achallenge, I had to use two differentprogrammes Photoshop and InDesign, Ifound these quite difficult to use therefore itrequired a lot of work.I used Photoshop to edit all my photos formy magazine, then I used InDesign to createit. I also used blogger to update how myproject was going, this helped me to keep

track of what I was doing and what I stillhad left to do.I also had to train to use the lightingequipment for when I was taking my photosof my artist, I also had to be trained how theuse the camera properly to.

I have learnt many different things and many differenttechniques from constructing my project.

I have learned how to successfully edit photos to aprofessional quality, I have also learnt to createmagazine front covers to a professional quality. I havelearnt how to use the studio to take pictures and how to

use the lighting system. Over all I have learnt quite a lotfrom doing my project.

When looking back onto my preliminary tasks it is very apparent that I have mademany changes and progressed in many different ways. My preliminary task wasvery plain and not eye catching or realistic whatsoever, I didnt have much

experience at the beginning therefore my prelim was not very good and it showedmy lack of experience with the equipment.

Overall I believe that I have done well with my project and that itworks well, my audience feedback also reflects this. I think that mykey strengths were research and the design of the product, I think

that the use of my research helped me to create a good design. Ithink that my weaknesses were using Photoshop, I slightlystruggled using it throughout the project even up to the end, I alsothink that another of my weaknesses was meeting deadlines.Despite some of my weaknesses I think that my finished projecthas worked well and been successful on a whole.
