• Decides what kind of lights are needed, where to focus them, and when to turn them on.• The lighting crew places them and runs them during the show
• Set designers may envision specific lighting but it is up to the lighting designer for lights to be hung and what specific colors are used
• Aware of:
• Ground plan
• Location
• Mood
• Time of day
