We are pleased to announce KSLDs lighting design for the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford has won the PublicBuilding Category at the Lighting Design Awards 2011. KSLD (Kevan Shaw Lighting Design) worked with RickMather Architects to illuminate the new six-storey extension which houses 39 new galleries, offices, educationrooms and a restaurant. The KSLD team are proud to have worked on such a prestigious project and are delightedto receive recognition for this bespoke museum lighting scheme.

KSLD were involved from an early stage , allowing the lighting design to be integrated with the architecture. Two fullheight atria allow daylight to penetrate deep into the building. Daylight responsive integrated lighting to the mainstaircases create a seductive glow in the evening. The gallery lighting is based on a flexible system of track andspotlights. Floating ceilings conceal an edge detail with inverted track, allowing the perimeter lighting to be asdiscrete as possible.
