1. Let me quickly say that of all intervention programmes, both national and international, as far as we are concerned in Toro local government, none has performed and affected the lives of our people positively as that of the MDGs. For instance in the health and educational sectors, we have witnessed great improvement as a result of MDGs’ intervention. Once a project is such that has direct and positive impact on the lives of people, it is done, and I think this is good, and I am happy with this initiative. - Awalu Bala Mohammed (Vice Chairman, Toro LGA) 2. This clinic has brought a lot of relief to this community, and the patronage is quite good, we see between 30 to 50 patients daily, and 80 percent of them are women and children. We handle minor ailments, while we refer just about 5 percent. Before the MDGs intervention, it was a bit difficult, because we had only maternity services, so people within the community had to travel far, or go to private clinics, but majority couldn’t afford it, so with this clinic now, they are happy. - Anna Bala (Officer In Charge, PHC, Magumawa Gumau, Toro LGA) 3. The challenges we had were enormous, because a clinic like this was not in existence, we just compartmentalized a class into three and were only using a part of it as a clinic, so with the construction of this place, our work has been made very convenient for us, and we are enjoying it. We thank God for MDGs, we are grateful, MDGs has really done a lot for us, because if I were to take you to the place where we were managing as clinic before, and compare with this place, you would know that we are now very comfortable. Look at the equipment, new and working, they have changed our lives, we are really happy. - Saleh Isa (Officer In charge/Lecturer, PHC, Ninghi LGA) 4. Our source of water before was an open well, but now it is easier and better to fetch water, we are grateful to those who provided us with this water, and advise that all should ensure its maintenance. - Zainab Magaji (13 year old Beneficiary, Ginjina, Itas Gadau LGA) 5. In all honesty, our major problem here had all along been the problem of having a standard and decent place where qualitative medical services can be rendered to the community, but today, by the grace of God, we have this blessed body that is helping the rural people, and today we have a qualitative medical facility that is far better than what we had here in the past. Before now, we had no decent place even for our out-patients or in- patients, but it is now different and we are grateful. - Rabiu Zakari Ya’au (Assistant Officer In Charge of the PHC, Gokaru, Alkaleri LGA) 6. Before the renovation, the cold room was too small, and not conducive, but with the expansion now, we are able to place our various deep freezers, we have offices for the various officers. It has actually improved on the condition of the vaccines, and spaces for keeping of the materials, just as it ought to be. We have enjoyed a lot of support and assistance from the MDGs. - Sabo Mohammed Abdullahi (Director, Primary Health Care, Kirfi LGA) BLOCK OF CLASSROOM AND WATER PUMP AT GIJINA, ITAS GADUA LGA.
