LI-FI (LIGHT FIDELITY):

LIGHT FIDELITY is a wireless and uses visible light communication.LI-FI can’t penetrate through the

walls

It is transmission of data through illumination by taking the fiber out of fiber optics by sending data through

a LED light bulb.This varies in intensity faster than

human eye can follow

WORKING:

Operational procedure is very simple.If LED is ON digital data 1 is transmitted and if LED is OFF digital signal 0 is transmitted.A controller connected at the back side of these LED’s is used to code data.Also called as 5G optical communication.

LI-FI connectors and routers are the main

components for a network

optimal signal cannot penetrate through walls in order

to provide an optical WLAN , rooms need to be

connected to each other so routers are used.

are solved using LIFI.

Speed of data transmission can

be increased.

SECURITY:The radio waves

penetrate through the

walls. They can be

intercepted and can be

used for negative

purposes. Hence

security cannot be

achieved at its

maximum leveling

spectrum

COMPARISON OF LI-FI WITH WI-FI & BLUETOOTH

ADVANTAGES:

•High speed connectivity of the rate

of 500mbps.

•Uses light rather than radio

frequency signals so are intolerant

to disturbances.

•Security is a side benefit of using

light for data transfer as it does not

penetrate.

•The issues of the shortage of radio

frequency bandwidth may be sorted

out by

LI-FI.

DISADVANTAGES:

•It can’t penetrate through walls.

LIMITATIONS:

•Only works if there is direct line of

sight(LOS).

•Data transmission can be easily

obstructed by opaque obstacles.

•The use of very high

frequencies(400-800THz) limits it to

very short distances and point to point communications only.
