Lifetime Extension for V-Frame Gas Turbines The worldwide demand for power continues to grow at a rapid rate. To help our customers better meet energy needs, Siemens offers the latest technologies designed to improve operating plant capability, flexibility, competitiveness and profitability. One Siemens advanced technology product involves Lifetime Extension for V-frame gas turbines. Our solution To support the reliable and safe operation of gas turbines beyond the original design life of the components, we offer Lifetime Extension measures for all Siemens gas turbine V-frames. Major components of the Siemens V-frame gas turbines – especially components of the hot gas path and rotor – are designed for a set operational duration. Our experi- ence shows that for gas turbines being operated beyond the components’ original design life, the risk of operational failure can increase substantially. These measures have been developed based on our knowledge of the original design parameters and our fleet operating experience as original equipment manu- facturer. Implementation of the V-frame Lifetime Extension measures can not only help reduce operational risk to your unit, but can also help reduce potential down- time due to unscheduled outages or maintenance activities. Also, power and efficiency, which gradually decline during the first 100,000 equivalent operating hours (EOH) or 3,000 starts, can poten- tially be restored or even in some cases increased by implementing new technol- ogies developed since the time of instal- lation. Scope of supply The Lifetime Extension outage includes a detailed, unit specific engineering analysis of the operation and maintenance of your gas turbine. We deliver unit specific recommendations through: Consideration of unit’s available opera- tional history, duty cycle, findings and component sample investigations (unit specific investigation) Fleet operational history and frame specific modeling (frame specific investigation). Lifetime Extension for V-Frame Gas Turbines

The worldwide demand for power continues to grow at a rapid rate. To help our customers better meet energy needs, Siemens offers the latest technologies designed to improve operating plant capability, flexibility, competitiveness and profitability. One Siemens advanced technology product involves Lifetime Extension for V-frame gas turbines.

Our solution

To support the reliable and safe operation of gas turbines beyond the original design life of the components, we offer Lifetime Extension measures for all Siemens gas turbine V-frames.

Major components of the Siemens V-frame gas turbines – especially components of the hot gas path and rotor – are designed for a set operational duration. Our experi-ence shows that for gas turbines being operated beyond the components’ original design life, the risk of operational failure can increase substantially.

These measures have been developed based on our knowledge of the original design parameters and our fleet operating experience as original equipment manu-facturer. Implementation of the V-frame Lifetime Extension measures can not only help reduce operational risk to your unit, but can also help reduce potential down-time due to unscheduled outages or maintenance activities. Also, power and efficiency, which gradually decline during the first 100,000 equivalent operating hours (EOH) or 3,000 starts, can poten-tially be restored or even in some cases increased by implementing new technol-ogies developed since the time of instal-lation.

Scope of supply

The Lifetime Extension outage includes a detailed, unit specific engineering analysis of the operation and maintenance of your gas turbine. We deliver unit specific recommendations through:

Consideration of unit’s available opera-tional history, duty cycle, findings and component sample investigations (unit specific investigation)

Fleet operational history and frame specific modeling (frame specific investigation).

The unit specific investigation includes an evaluation of:

Rotor

Compressor

Turbine

Combustion section

Burners.

The recommended scope of work to be performed, including modernization and upgrade measures, will be defined with consideration of your long-term operating requirements.

Customer benefits

Benefits may include:

Detailed unit specific engineering analysis of the operation and maintenance of your gas turbine, taking into consideration the specific characteristics of your gas turbine, such as operating mode and unit history, leads to tailored, cost-optimized Lifetime Extension recom-mendations.

Positioning your unit for operation up to another 100,000 EOH or 3,000 starts

Reduction of the operational risk when operating your unit past 100,000 EOH or 3,000 starts

An opportunity to upgrade previous technology with Siemens improved components.

References

Siemens Energy successfully performed Lifetime Extensions for a variety of gas turbines around the world. More than 70 units are back in operation after Lifetime Extension measures including the following V-frame units:

Four units in United States SGT6-2000E (V84.2)

Two units in Great Britain SGT5-2000E (V94.2)

One unit in Indonesia SGT5-2000E (V94.2)

Two units in Turkey SGT5-2000E (V94.2).

In addition, Lifetime Extensions are scheduled for the following units, e.g.:*

Three units in Germany, Finland and Netherlands (V64.3)

Two units in Argentina and Hungary SGT5-2000E (V94.2)

One unit in Argentina SGT5-4000F (V94.3A).
