MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Service Delivery To lead and coordinate the service’s key activities: assessment, implementation, monitoring and

review of recovery plans; individual psychosocial support; planning community re-integration and treatment exit; and caseload coordination.

To be responsible for ensuring that effective engagement and harm reduction interventions are delivered for service users presenting with a range of drug and alcohol problems.

To be responsible for ensuring that required assessments and recovery plans are completed and

individuals’ strengths / recovery capital, including social capital and networks, begin to be explored. To ensure that service users personal strengths, social networks and recovery capital (social,

physical, human and cultural) are built and developed during the recovery stage. To collaboratively develop and implement effective and flexible systems and structures that are

responsive to the needs of individuals with different levels of risk, complexity and strengths. To coordinate and develop the provision of a full range of flexible psychosocial interventions, in line

with national guidance. To monitor, review and improve as necessary, the quality of recovery care planning within the

service. To monitor the progress of individual service users through the recovery process and ensure that

recovery goals and outcomes are being achieved. To be responsible for ensuring that recording of documentation and case notes are of a high standard

and that recording is undertake within required time frames. To ensure that service users are fully informed about their recovery / treatment options, are involved

in and consent to decisions, and are encouraged to take opportunities to achieve a sustained recovery.

To ensure and develop ‘visible recovery’ within the service, continuing to promote exit from treatment to service users, through the use of dedicated recovery individuals and information.

To develop initiatives within the team (including the establishment of lead roles) in order to support service users with specific needs relating to gender, age, sexual orientation or ethnicity.

To develop effective transition arrangements with the team for service users entering community drug treatment or prison based treatment, including regular joint handover meetings and continuity of recovery plans.

To ensure that the service is fully integrated with clinical treatment provision, by working closely with the Clinical Team to effectively align interventions within the recovery plan.

To support delivery of a fully integrated recovery-oriented treatment system by ensuring close links, information sharing, shared processes and collaborative development between community treatment, Clinical and Offender Management Teams to affect a safe, seamless and successful treatment journey, and to ensure that services are working collectively towards the achievement of recovery goals and positive outcomes for each individual.

Performance and People Management To manage and coordinate efficient and effective staff development within the Prison Recovery

Coordination Team, including volunteers and peer mentors, to provide adequate cover for all aspects of the service.

To provide professional leadership through: first line support; problem solving; leading by example; developing appropriate expectations, culture and values; embracing and implementing change.

To performance manage, at individual and team level, through: delivering contractual requirements, targets and outcomes; goal and task setting; and managing, monitoring and reporting progress.

To assess the impact of recovery coordination provision in contributing to recovery goals / outcomes. To provide operational management through consistent systems of supervision, objectives, appraisal,

induction, disciplinary and grievance and absence management. To develop the team through coaching, engagement, communication, motivation, team building and

delegation (including of lead roles). To develop a collaborative, creative and flexible team, which is able to empower, challenge and

change. To support team members to be competent to delivery the full range of psychosocial and other

interventions required at the change and completion (recovery coordination) phase, through supervision, case reviews and matching training to job roles.

To develop robust and integrated data capture procedures to ensure effective recording of performance monitoring, outcomes and service user information including identifying areas of attrition.

To utilise service data to facilitate business decisions and reporting, locally and organisationally. To ensure that risk management procedures (including child and adult safeguarding protocols) are

To manage the continuous improvement of quality and performance in the provision of recovery coordination within an integrated model of service delivery.

Service and Business Development To lead on specific areas of service development, projects or pilots, as agreed with Operations

Managers. To identify and report on service and locality relevant information, including gaps in provision and

opportunities, developing appropriate responses with Operations Managers. To proactively engage and build relationships with local communities, external agencies /

professionals to identify and build recovery resources and opportunities for individual and service development.

To ensure that service users are provided with opportunities to consult on service development and to be involved in the development and delivery of services as appropriate.

To contribute to the sustainability of Lifeline’s growth, by leading on specific areas of business development, as appropriate and agreed with the Service Manager.

To undertake key financial issues, including service budgets, value for money, efficiency and risk. To ensure an appropriate strategic awareness at industry, local, organisational and service levels.

GENERAL DUTIES

To assist the Prison Team Leader to plan intervention delivery in accordance with local treatment needs and requirements.
