Christ our Life, chapters:2&3

Story written by: Odalis CastellanosOctober 20, 2010 Today I am going to review on chapters 2 and 3 from my religion book. I’ll first start out with chapter 2. This chapter was about Jesus having many friends in his life. He loved all of them especially the ones closet to him, Peter, James, and John. This chapter also told us, that faith in Jesus is based on Scripture and Tradition. Scripture is the word of Godand the written testimony of faith. Tradition is the truths handed down by the church from generation to generation. These are 2 ways that God reveals himself. As I was reading chapter 3, these things were explained.

In this chapter, it tells us about Mark, Matthew, Luke and John, who were the 4 evengalists. These 4 men proclaimed the good news of the gospels. As you read on, I’ll tell you a little bit

Page 4: Life of Jesus #1

about the 4 of these men.Mark lived during A.D. 63-70. He was a man of action and a man of suffering. Matthew lived during 80-100 A.D. He quotetates from Hebrew scriptres was known as a new Moses. Luke lived during 70-90 A.D. He was a Greek doctor, was gentile, and a companion of Paul. John lived during 90-100 A.D. He was poetic and reflective discourses.

Jesus is welcomed into a home and gives aLesson.

By. Jack Munsey Here is what happened in a small village in Israel. A woman named Martha welcomed Jesus in. She also had a sister named Mary and she jest sat by Jesus and jest listen to him. Martha was doing chores and her sister was jest sitting there doing

nothing. Eventually Martha to the ask the Lord, ”do you not care that my sister has left me to do all the work. Tell her to help me.” The Lord then said Martha, Martha you are anxious and worried about many things and there is no need to. Mary has chosen the better path and it will not be taken from her.

I DIE ON A CROSS (JOHN 10:14-18)

I think this is the best gospel story by far because

it talks on how Jesus was dying on the cross. Jesus dying is important because he died for us. The fact that Jesus died for us was enough to make this gospel story number one.

II FEED THE HUNGRY (MATTHEW 15:32-38)

I chose this gospel as number two for a few

reasons. One reason was that in my opinion Jesus

has done better things but this one spoke to me in

Page 10: Life of Jesus #1

a way. Also by giving food to m ore than 4,000 ` people then this deserves to be number two.

III I AM ALWAYS WITH YOU (MATTHEW 28:20)

This is more like mini story but I still chose it to be

number three because the fact that it says “I am

with you always, until the end of the age.” I could

not decide which one to put on number three but

the fact that Jesus said that made this one number

three.

SPECIAL REPORT

We went around OLMC school and asked some of the faculty and staff what their favorite gospel of the four we summarized for them. Many of them enjoyed Matthew’s message in his gospel reading while no one voted for Mark’s because they did not k=like the message he gave in his gospel.

An interview with the 7th

grade class of OLMC about how to be a friend to Jesus

By: Bella Rey

What I did today was ask some 7th graders questions about being friends with Jesus. The reason why I did this is because I want to hear what children do to be better friends with Jesus and how people see Jesus different.

Page 20: Life of Jesus #1

Q: How do you show your friendship with Jesus as man?

A: Daniela- I pray, go to church, and read the Bible.Nicky- I pray to Jesus a lot thanking him for all he has given me. Sometimes in my spare time I read the Bible.Janelle- I go to church every Sunday, I pray every night before I go to sleep, and during Lent I read a gospel story.

Q: Do you think it’s easier to be friends with Jesus or a person? Why?

A: Kara- Jesus because he understands you and won’t judge you.Ben- Jesus because you can talk to him and tell him your problems.Maddy- Jesus because you can’t fight with him, keep secrets, and you can talk with him at any time.

Page 21: Life of Jesus #1

Q: In the gospel reading Luke 10: 38-42, would you say you are more like Martha or Mary? Why?

A: Vanessa- I would be Mary because I want to spend time with Jesus and learn about him.Nate Lyon- Martha because I usually take control of the situation.Claire- Martha because she worked hard and was able to spend time with Jesus.

Q: Do you think it’s right to have best friends? If so would you say Jesus is your best friend?

A: Susie- No, because it’s breaks up your friendship with them.Jack- Yes and no because sometimes they can mess up your relationship or have your back.

Page 22: Life of Jesus #1

Sinai- Yes, because sometimes you have friends but you can’t trust them. If you have best friends you can trust them. Yes, because he will always be there for you.

Radio 3.112 with Nick and Paul

We chose to do an interview because we wanted to imagine what it would be like to talk with Jesus. The results were a mixture of comedy and facts. The characters are Nick and Paul, the radio talk show hosts. The guest star is Jesus. Enjoy!

N: But Paul, do you smell that, or do you just….?P: Nicky for the fourth time, YES!!!N: Well, it’s definitely NOT a good smell!(Jesus enters the room) P: Look who it is!N: Hey, hey, hey Jesus! True or false?J: Well, Nicky, many people doubt it, but I am in truth fully man and fully God.P: Amazing, isn’t Nick?N: Absotutely Paulerino! Next question.P: Ok…um…Jesus; I’ve heard that you didn’t care when Mary wasn’t working with her sister, Martha. Is this true?J: Well Paul I’m not going to lie to you. Yes I did….not….uh, I didn’t really care because it’s more important to listen to me no matter how much work needs to be done.N: Righteousness!!! Ok so I’ve heard that the scripture is the word of God. Any thoughts or comments?J: Um yes Nicky scripture is the word of God.N: Cool. Most duh-definitely. Next question Paulerino.P: Jesus are you really the one and only Christ?J: Well, I don’t like to brag but yes I am the one and only ChristN: Well, that’s all the time we have for now.
