General Info •This year’s program will commence Monday evening, October 5th at The Omni Austin Hotel Downtown (www.omnihotels.com), Austin, Texas. Cocktails will begin at 6:00pm and dinner will be served at 7:00pm. •A detailed agenda for Tuesday and Wednesday morning sessions will be sent later. The meeting will adjourn at approximately 12:00pm on Wednesday, October 7st.

Golf: Barton Creek – Crenshaw Cliffside Course

When architects Ben Crenshaw and partner Bill Coore designed this course, they focused on the natural beauty of the Texas Hill Country. They harmoniously wove rolling hills, natural plateaus, soft contours and native vegetation into a playable championship layout with a variety of interesting holes. “We believe the best architect is nature and the best players’ courses make good use of the natural terrain. We let the land dictate the routing rather than imposing ourselves on the landscape,“ says Austin native Ben Crenshaw. His “old-style” philosophy, influenced by his study of golf’s history, created a course plays across the land quite naturally and most magically while maintaining a rare taste of a traditional layout Forgiving for the novice, the Crenshaw Cliffside golf course is still challenging for the seasoned golfer. Golfers will enjoy broad, rolling fairways and widely varied green sizes – a fitting tribute to the way the game was once played. They will experience their biggest challenge from the large, undulating putting surfaces. The low handicap player will be challenged with positioning the ball at the most advantageous point for an approach putt and the average golfer will attempt to use the natural slopes to aid an approach shot. The Dallas Morning News rated Crenshaw Cliffside 38th among the “50 Best Courses in Texas.” Box lunches and water will be provided for all golfers. Clubs may be rented separately at a cost of $60.

Downtown Austin Walking Tour

90 minute scheduled tour. The tour will meeting in the lobby of the Omni Hotel at 2 pm and will head to the E. 6th Street entertainment area and Congress Avenue. Additional stops will include the riverfront and the W. 2nd St. entertainment area. From there, people would have the option of walking to the Capitol for its tour and museum (free - no appointment necessary) or walk through a historic home section or return to check out more of the amusements of E. 6th St. Directions will be available to direct you to whatever sights they want to see on the way back to the Omni. The 10-block Congress Avenue and nine-block Sixth Street (Pecan Street) National Register Districts interweave modern skyscrapers with 19th century buildings such as the Old Bakery (1876), Millett Opera House (1878), Driskill Hotel (1886), Walter Tips Building (1876) and Robinson-Rosner Building (1856). Historic structures such as St. Mary's Cathedral (1874) and St. David's Church (1854) reflect Old World architecture.
