3. Presidents Report (transcript text) With some 16 club events plus several “special” events offering subsidy for members it is has been another full year of golf and enjoyment. This does not happen without the active participation of our members, committee and executive team that are prepared to step up, own and deliver on the multiple activities to make those events locally and interstate successful – thank you. We are also fortunate to receive levels of sponsorships to support the club including: • Gateway Bank • Pat Wong (Dolphin Powder Coatings) • Tiger Chan • Ted Geekie • Rowena Rees-Poole • Dave McCann • Peter Bendeich • Life Members • All members via captain’s cash. Apologies if I have overlooked anyone as your support is extremely valued. George and Tiger will also provide a report covering a number of successes and achievements for this club in 2017, including financial position, membership levels and our events and club winners. It would also be remiss not to call out several key contributors in the year: Dave McCann – booking officer a critical position and often operates unseen George Emerson – stopping the executive spending Stephen McCammond – handicaps week in week out, Richard Mair – vice with some major lifting especially in regard to the Bank Holiday Tiger Chan – 10th year as captain. Brilliant job. Craig Horley – a special thank you for the rigour and commitment to the role and keeping the committee on task. Committee and members. And patron Peter Bendeich (always stepping up and in to support the club, whether it is via his mentoring as patron or direct involvement such as the Winter Cup) Plus, all our winners…… I Have been privileged to have held the President position for eight years however I feel one of the key accountabilities is to ensure succession, so this year I will not be seeking re-election as president and delighted to hear we have a nomination for 2019. However, will still remain as an active member and contributor to the club. On that note like to announce this year’s president trophy’s winner and number one selection for the RS Elliott for 2018. 317 points, some 37 points in front of the runner up, Warren Francis who also had a stellar year. Played all 13 president events, 2 wins, 1 runner up, and 5 in the top ten) Well done Richard Mair. Thank you and best wishes to everyone for a safe and wonderful Christmas and a successful 2019.

5. Treasurers Report The 2018 Summary report, presented by George Emerson, highlighted key points :

For 2018 CBASGC operated with a $906.00 profit which was a 1.4K turnaround from previous year, based mainly on a 2K profit on the bank holiday event.

The Treasurer acknowledged the concentrated effort by the committee to increase our financial results by introducing new strategies and revenue raising opportunities.

The club has a 70K turnover during the year, putting approx. 50K back into the clubs via green fees. We are a large contributor to the Sydney golfing community.

The report/balance sheet was accepted and seconded as follows: Accepted: Stephen McCammond Seconded: Peter Bendeich A copy of the Profit/Loss Balance sheet can be found in Appendix 1.

6. Captains Report (transcript text) Steven Chan presented a comprehensive report of the Club’s events and results for a busy 2018 schedule. Highlights :

8000 hits on the web site Average attendance 31 in 2018. Acknowledgement to 4 members attending every game Membership approximately 80 and steady 2019 Game Schedule has been released by the Booking Officer (Appendix 2)

who again has done a great job. Cabramatta – a ‘floater course’ is not in 2019 schedule but could again be

included in future years.

The transcript follows: Welcome everyone to this year’s Annual General Meeting & Presentation night 2018 As usual, it is always a busy year for the club:

- We hosted a very successful Bank Holiday at Twin Creeks - participation wise and financially. It was great so see the numbers for this year up near the 100 mark

- We had sent teams to the RS Elliott and Interbank and again had success coming back again with some trophies

- The website has been a winner again this year with over 8000 hits. Attendance…. This year’s attendance average was approximately 31 and is still a reasonable number. I would also make mention of the 4 x players who attended all 13 regular games.–

Richard Mair Warren Francis Dave McCann Stephen McCammond

Well done to those players.

Page 4: (Life Member & Patron) (Life Member)...line of sight from the hole and drop outside of the bunker. Currently you can still take relief in a bunker with a 1 x shot penalty, but you

Membership…. Our membership numbers are still looking good. We have again been around the 80 mark for some time and we are still seeing a few new members joining though out the year. Great stuff ! Looking forward to next year’s games…. The 2019 schedule will see us playing Liverpool in January and Eastlake in February again. In August, we will be at Warringah GC instead of Cabramatta. The remainder of the year is pretty much the same except for October where we will be at Camden Lakeside instead of Carnarvon. We will be back at Carnarvon in 2020. Booking Officer…. Well done to Dave McCann for taking on the Booking Officer role this year. Everyone would agree his done another great job. Matchplay…. This year is the third year we’ve run the matchplay with 16 players and we will continue with the same format. Qualification for the 2019 matchplay draw will be again last year’s winner (Richard Mair) and the top 15 x players (who are yet to qualify) from the Eastlakes, Koohindah Waters & the Mona Vale game. The first round will again start at the Glenmore game. The full match play schedule will be noted on the 2019 fixtures list. Rules On the Rules front, there are a handful of new rules coming in on 1st January 2019. A couple of the reasons for the rule changes is to speed up play and to remove some of the penalties that are caused by accidents or nature itself. A few of the new rules will include:

- Dropping a ball from knee height instead of shoulder height - Time looking for a ball will be reduced to 3 minutes (instead of 5 minutes) - You can now leave the flag in the hole when you’re putting on the green - You can now repair damage to the green which includes the tapping down spike

marks on the green - In the bunker or penalty areas (penalty areas being Water hazards & lateral water

hazards) you will be able to pick up and remove loose impediments like sticks or stones without penalty.

- You will now (with a 2 x shot penalty) be able to take relief from a bunker using the line of sight from the hole and drop outside of the bunker. Currently you can still take relief in a bunker with a 1 x shot penalty, but you need to drop the ball within the bunker

- There will be no penalty for double hits now….you just treat it as the one shot - Another significant rule change will see courses having the choice of adding a local

rule that allows players the option (under a 2 x shot penalty) to take a drop when a ball is lost or out of bounds. You basically determine the point where the ball is lost or out of bounds, take a line of sight from the hole. You then move to the edge of the fairway (no nearer the hole) and take another line of sight to the hole. The area

Page 5: (Life Member & Patron) (Life Member)...line of sight from the hole and drop outside of the bunker. Currently you can still take relief in a bunker with a 1 x shot penalty, but you

between both line of sights will be the area you can drop in (still no nearer the hole). Although this not a compulsory rule, I’m sure we’ll see courses add this to their local rules in an effort to speed up the game and minimize the time taken when a player decides to reload. I will add some links on the website for people to refer to if they want to find out more on the rules changes for next year. Thanks to Dave McCann for sending out the leaflet on the rule changes. Ok…..let’s move on to the Representative events….. RS Elliott This year’s RS Elliott tournament was hosted in Adelaide at The Grange GC on a Thursday & Friday. Thursday saw us play on The Grange East course and the west course on the Friday. Thursday’s game saw South Australia win the Managing Director’s trophy with a 157 points. The Managing Director’s trophy is now the aggregate of the best 5 x stableford scores from each state. Friday’s game saw South Australia win the RS Elliott with 438 strokes to NSW’s 454 strokes. The Brisbane Salver was won by Western Australia with the best individual player stableford average of 30.0 points calculated over the 2 x days. The Gateway Cup which is the best individual stableford on day 2 was won by Andrew McRae (who was playing for Qld) with 37 points . The Melbourne Cup was won by our David Wirth from South Australia with 85 strokes. The 2019 RS Elliott tournament will be hosted by Queensland on the Sunshine Coast during the Sunday 10th to Wednesday the 13th of March next year. The golf will played on the Twin Waters course on Monday and Maroochy River on the Tuesday. Accommodation will be at the Atlantis Marcoola Resort which is a short drive from the Sunshine Coast airport. The players that will be joining Richard Mair to represent NSW next year will be announced shortly. The Summer Cup The inaugural Summer Cup was held on Sunday 25th February this year at the Hunter Valley Golf & Country Club. Page 6: (Life Member & Patron) (Life Member)...line of sight from the hole and drop outside of the bunker. Currently you can still take relief in a bunker with a 1 x shot penalty, but you

Next year’s Winter Cup will again be held at Federal Golf Club on Sunday 28th July which should nice and fresh. Bank Holiday For the 67th Bank Holiday, the event was held again at Twin Creeks GC. Congratulations to Simon Cooper on winning the Welfare/Watson –Mason Cup with 76 strokes and congratulations also goes to George Emerson for winning the Ted Geekie Veterans trophy with 36 points. Craig Springett won the Overall Stableford trophy (sponsored by Gateway Bank) with a whopping 47 points. Well done Craig. Other highlights were Mark O’Connor winning A grade with 45 points and Allan Kenny winning B Grade with 39 points. Overall, it was a very successful event and thanks to everyone that helped in making it a great day. Numbers were up in the high 90’s so the move to Twin Creeks definitely paid off. We will be back there next year and hopefully we will have similar numbers again. CBA/Westpac Challenge The CBA/Westpac challenge, hosted by CBA this year, was contested again at the Riverside Oaks on the 19th Aug and also played on the newer Bungool course. After all 20 matches had been completed and tallied, CBA were the winners again with 12.5 points to Westpac’s 7.5. Highlight of the day was Richard Mair winning the day with 37 points and Westpac’s Rolf Krammer scooping the $200 Captains Cash pool with the only birdie on the Par 3 (the 15th hole). Next years challenge will be hosted by Westpac and will be played again at Riverside Oaks on Sunday 18th August 2018. Sydney V Brisbane - The 41th Sydney V Brisbane Tournament was recently held again in Coffs Harbour again. Reports of perfect weather this year was great to hear.
