Life in Christ First United Methodist Church of Cameron, Texas 2016 Publication Number #14 Church News – September 28, 2016 Note from the Pastor: I believe I have told y’all before that I am fascinated by nature. I have been to many places in the States and enjoy it all; the plains, swamps, hills, forests, deserts, mountains, I love it all, but some more than others. Have you ever thought about how massive a mountain is? We don’t really have any around here so maybe that is not top of mind awareness for us. As we drive where mountains are, we can see them from a long ways off. As we get closer we realize how much space this rock pile takes up, it’s huge. I love exploring, so when I see a mountain my first thought is to climb it. But when I am closer to the mountain I have to rethink that thought. Mount Everest is the tallest mountain and some dare to climb it. There is a summit where people have to wait and get climatized before they venture further because the mountain is so enormous. The beautiful landscape of mountains is gigantic for us but it is nothing to God. He is the one who created it all. It says in Romans 1:19-20 (ESV) “For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made.” The glory of God cries out from creation and from it we can perceive the invisible attributes of God. How awesome is that! During October we will be talking about Barnyard Faith. It is a series I put together involving animals and some qualities they have that we can learn from. It will be a fun series but the point of it all is to keep us focused on the glory of God. So, what have you seen lately that made you think of the greatness of God? With love, Pastor Geoff Page 1 of 4 F U M C Sunday School . . . . . . . . 9:45 am Fellowship Coffee . . . . . 10:30 am Worship . . . . . . . . . . . . . .11:00 am Attendance Aug 2016 07 14 21 28 Sunday School 23 7 24 45 Worship 87 86 90 128 Sept 2016 04 11 18 25 Sunday School - 9 23 32 Worship 72 83 101 112 Contributions: Minimum Needed Weekly......$5,318.00 August 2016________ Received 07 $ 2,371.00 14 $ 3,325.00 21 $ 3,183.00 28 $ 2,645.00 Total Received. …. $ 11,524.00 __ September 2016_______ Received 04 $ 4,664.00 11 $ 4,748.00 24 $ 3,364.00 25 $ 4,395.00 Total Received $ 17,171.00 __________________________ MAYSFIELD CHURCH Worship . . . . . . . . . . . 9:00 am ____________________________________ Attendance Aug. 2016 07 11 21 28 Worship 14 13 18 27 Sept. 2016 04 11 18 25 Worship 22 19 Our local Thrift Store is in desperate need of non-perishable can goods items. Church News – September 28, 2016

Note from the Pastor: I believe I have told y’all before that I am fascinated by nature. I have

been to many places in the States and enjoy it all; the plains, swamps, hills,

forests, deserts, mountains, I love it all, but some more than others.

Have you ever thought about how massive a mountain is? We don’t

really have any around here so maybe that is not top of mind awareness for

us. As we drive where mountains are, we can see them from a long ways off.

As we get closer we realize how much space this rock pile takes up, it’s huge.

I love exploring, so when I see a mountain my first thought is to climb it. But

when I am closer to the mountain I have to rethink that thought. Mount Everest

is the tallest mountain and some dare to climb it. There is a summit where

people have to wait and get climatized before they venture further because

the mountain is so enormous.

The beautiful landscape of mountains is gigantic for us but it is nothing

to God. He is the one who created it all. It says in Romans 1:19-20 (ESV) “For

what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to

them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature,

have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things

that have been made.” The glory of God cries out from creation and from it we

can perceive the invisible attributes of God. How awesome is that!

During October we will be talking about Barnyard Faith. It is a series

I put together involving animals and some qualities they have that we can

learn from. It will be a fun series but the point of it all is to keep us focused

on the glory of God. So, what have you seen lately that made you think of

the greatness of God?

With love,

Pastor Geoff

Prayer and Meditations O Lord, when I feel overwhelmed, let me not forget that You are greater than any problem and that I can trust Your love. –Amen-
