2. game noun 1. a form of play or sport, esp. a competitive one played according to rules and decided by skill, strength, or luck. 3. A Race Game is a game in which the aim is to be the first player to get to the finishing point Racing Board Games are the earliest known board games and the most widely dispersed Racing Video Games can involve racing land, air or sea vehicles Then, of course, traditional Racing, as a sport, could also be called a game Racing Game 4. There are many kinds of Racing Games: 5. There is an aspect of my life which could be seen as a racing game... I call it BEAT THE BUS 6. Like all games, there are rules... You must arrive at the bus stop on/ahead of schedule This is a game of Daring and Chance You must make it to the next bus stop before the bus passes you out You win if: you make it to a different stop and still catch the bus (and save some bus fare) Or: you make it far enough that you might as well just walk You lose if: you end up stranded in the middle of nowhere... 7. Obstacle Course Obstacle courses are a game much-loved by children and army drill officers alike They consist of a series of challenging obstacles that the player must climb over/through or dodge They are a test of physical fitness and agility But obstacle courses can be found in everyday life as well! 8. Traditional obstacle courses:Everyday 9. The obstacle course in my life is my untidy bedroom As an unorganised individual, my room often resembles an obstacle course The aim is usually to access a particular piece of furniture or clothing without breaking anything or causing a landslide In most cases the challenge is to cross the room to the floor lamp because the light switch doesn't work The level of difficulty is increased by the fact that this is done in the dark 10. Mazes Mazes are a type of puzzle game In a maze, the player must find their way through complicated paths from one point or entrance to another Mazes can be puzzles, video games or they can actually be built Finding the correct pathway through a large town or city could be seen as a maze game 11. Mazes 12. I get lost... I am not very good with directions road names, new places, paying attention to where I am going... Life for me is often a bit of a maze I will very quickly get lost around Dublin if I even take a slightly unusual route Fortunately, I like maze games 13. Anyone who has ever done bag packing fundraisers should understand when I compare it to TETRIS 14. The rules are the same: Fit everything in together neatly and evenly You are under time pressure to get this done the pieces keep coming! The awkward shapes rarely fit together Added difficulty: heaviest at the bottom (eg. Milk cartons) and no cooked meat near uncooked meat 15. For whatever reason, there are plenty of games out there all about MURDER 16. I love Crime Shows... 17. There is no denying that competition is a key part of gameplay After a long day of racing busses, tackling the obstacle course that is my bedroom, getting lost and struggling to fit everything into my bag in an orderly fashion the final game I play is competing with my family to solve murder mysteries (on TV of course) As this is a competitive, challenging and entertaining activity, I think it qualifies as a game
