IBM have improved

• Licensing is a *lot* easier than it used to be• 11 client license types... down to 2• You can more easily move between license models• You don’t have to license every product for every person in your company• So if this isn’t a sales pitch or a marketing session what is it

6

| © 2012 IBM Corporation

Do you ever feel a sense of entitlement ?• We hope so• There’s a long list of additional products you can use if you have a Lotus Domino or Notes

licensing and maybe you’re here because you want to know more• All of the entitlements add - they add their own features and services but they also add to the

overall experience for your users who see a single cohesive solution

• So let’s start from the basics

Why Are IBM Giving Us All This “Free” Stuff?• Well we aren’t IBM so we can only guess BUT• Convincing people to buy a new product is usually a case of proving that it will add something to

the business that the existing products don’t have• The Lotus collaboration products all have their own features and benefits

- Combine them together and they are much more than what they can provide alone

• So the smart thing for IBM to do is to let customers experience and benefit from the impact of all their products working together

• Not all the benefits of course - there are shareholders to think of- So some products are given to you as full licenses- Some are given with limited features- Some are only given as part of a Domino or Notes deployment

| © 2012 IBM Corporation

What Problems Does It Solve?• You want to give access to mail, calendar and contacts from user devices but you don’t want to

supply the devices.• You want users to set themselves us• You want it to be secure• You want address lookups to work against corporate directories without storing data on the

devices• You want to have encrypted mail • You want to be able to remote wipe devices or restrict what people can do• You don’t want to pay an additional fee to a smartphone provider above the existing data

contract• You want it to be controlled in the environment you already have, in Domino, by your existing

Domino Administrators and using standard Domino policies

• You want to keep the boss happy.

What Problems Does It Solve?• Even if you don’t use browser based mail as your primary UI, there are always some users who

need remote access on an occasional basis. Secure remote access.• iNotes gives you not one but three browser interfaces all from the same place

- a full featured client with calendaring, sametime awareness and ever expanding feature parity with the Notes mail client

- iNotes lite optimised but limited bandwidth- iNotes ultralite optimised for smartphone browsers

• and it all comes from the same template that gives you the Notes mail client UI (mail85.ntf) so it keeps your admin overhead down

• and of course there’s the web access redirect application that comes free with your Domino server and passes each to their own mail file on login

• Keep two or more directories in sync so every change is reflected in each location- No need to duplicate directories, keep the right information where you need it

• You create “Assemblylines” which are workflow processes that define what data sources to monitor and what to do if an item is created, modified or deleted

• It’s phenomenally powerful
