Libya• Libya is located in

northern Africa just south of the coast of the Mediterranean Sea.

• Its terrain consists mostly of deserts due to its proximity to the Sahara to the south.

Libya

• Muammar Gaddafi was the dictator of Libya for 42 years before finally being overthrown in June 2011, and killed by the very Libyans he had suppressed later on October 20th, 2011.

• NATO now was able to begin sending economic aid to the victorious rebels and believe that the best way to stabilize post-Gaddafi order would be to integrate the substantial support base of the regime into a new order.

Libya• Children also played a role

throughout the war. Unfortunately they were commonly used as soldiers, or used as human shields after being traumatized by Gaddafi forces.

• Ali Abdullah is one of the revolutionary leaders who desperately waited for news from the new leaders as his home was under gun fire.

Libya

• The civil war revolved around most of the Mediterranean coast from the seaside city of Benghazi to its capital, Tripoli.

• The war began at around February of 2011 and began its close with the storming of Tripoli on August 21st, 2011.

• In order for the new leaders to successfully establish a new government there, they need to integrate the neglected desert communities scattered between Libya and Central Africa.

• Like Libya, it did not seem like the American colonies could face an overpowering force like Britain.

• America also struggled to form a working government once it had expelled Britain, leading to debt and disorder.

Many aspects of the Libyan Revolution can relate to the American Revolution that occurred nearly 300 years ago.

Some aspects of the Libyan Revolution can also differ with the American Revolution

• Unlike Libya, however, the victory of the American Revolution did not come through the killing of the tyrant, but rather to the defeat of his military.

• The American Revolution also took place on colonial soil, no bloodshed ever reached the source of the tyranny; Great Britain.

Where is Libya Going?

• I believe that Libya will take a few months to recover and become comfortable with its new government.

• I think Libya is better off now that it has been liberated and that its people now are safer. I just only hope the government can sort itself out, as it seems to be slightly vulnerable to attack now.
